Today’s ‘Meet the Blazers’ profile features a freshman guard, Lindsey Dullard.

The Dullard File

Number: 15

Position: Guard

Height: 6-0

Hometown: Morton, Illinois

What is your favorite thing about Morton?

LD: “It’s kind of a small town but we are the ‘pumpkin capital of the world,’ so we have a pumpkin festival every year which is really fun, they have pumpkin ice cream and everything.”

When did you start playing basketball and why?

LD: “I think I was about five years old, in a little rec league in Morton. My whole family played it, my brothers and sisters and my dad.”

Who is your favorite basketball player?

LD: “I don’t watch a lot of basketball; I know that’s probably bad. I do like Steph Curry a lot. I like his personality he seems like a great guy. But he announced my name, so we are practically besties now.”

What is your favorite basketball memory?

LD: “Winning the state championships my freshman and junior year.”

Did you play any other sports growing up?

LD: “When I was in elementary school, I played softball and volleyball alongside basketball. Then in high school I played basketball and volleyball.”

Why do you wear number 15?

LD: “My number was always 23 growing up but for my AAU team one of my teammates had 23 so one of the options was 15 and once I started wearing it I kind of liked it more.”

Why did you choose UAB?

LD: “I chose UAB for a couple of reasons. The team and the coaches made me feel like family, I loved the family aspect because I am really close with my family. Also touring campus, I just really loved it I thought it was pretty and could see myself here.”

Do you have any siblings? What are their names and how old are they?

LD: “I have four siblings. My oldest brother is Christian, he is almost 27. My other brother Corey just turned 25. My sister Haley is 22 and my other sister Nicole is 20. I am the baby of the family, which has its perks at times I feel a little spoiled. All my siblings had a curfew but by the time it got to me my parents stopped caring about that.”

Do you have any pets?

LD: “I have a dog named Cody, he is 10 and he’s a golden doodle.”

Who is your biggest inspiration?

LD: “Probably my grandma because she is going through a lot and she still has a smile on her face. She is one of the toughest people I have ever met.”

What did you want to be when you grew up?

LD: “I wanted to be a teacher. I thought they were so cool, and they still are.”

What do you want to be now?
LD: “I want to be an athletic trainer or a physical therapist. I’m leaning towards kinesiology for my major.”

What did you do during quarantine?

LD: “I had a lot of family time in my house because all my siblings came home. Most of them live in Chicago which is about three hours away so when things got bad, they came home, and we got to spend some time together. I also did some workouts and did some basketball stuff on my own. My siblings would shoot with me sometimes. I started to cook a little more too but mostly just baking cookies and brownies.”

What is your favorite TV show to binge watch?

LD: “Parks & Recreation. It’s so good, Leslie Knope is amazing.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

LD: “I like to be with my friends a lot, I like to go hiking and be adventurous. I am trying to get someone to go skydiving with me but so far no one will take me up on that offer.”

Who is one artist you want to see in concert the most?

LD: “I like a lot of different music so for country probably Morgan Wallen and then maybe like Post Malone.”

If you could have any actress play you in a movie about your life who would it be?

LD: “I don’t know if she would play me very well or not, but I just love Sandra Bullock.”

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?

LD: “I’ve never been out of the country so I am going to say some place like New Zealand would be a fun place to live.”

What is your favorite book?

LD: “I really liked The Crucible, we read it in school. It was really fascinating to learn about the Salem Witch Trials.”

Do you have a hidden talent?

LD: “I know how to solve a Rubik’s cube. I can solve it in a minute or two.”

What are you looking forward to most in your first basketball season at UAB?

LD: “I would say that I am looking forward to being able to compete on the court with my teammates the most!”
