BOCA RATON, Fla. – Larry McCammon III became the first Florida Atlantic University Owl to record more than 1,000 rushing yards since Devin “Motor” Singletary led the country in 2018. McCammon’s 2022 efforts were recognized on Tuesday by Conference USA Coaches as a First Team All-Conference selection.
McCammon was among 12 FAU individuals who earned 13 total C-USA honors. He tallied a team-leading 1,005 yard on 94 carries, an average of 5.2 yards per carry, and found the endzone seven times while adding 15 receptions totaling 165 yards and a touchdown.
FAU’s second team-selections were offensive lineman Brendan Bordner, who started each of the team’s 12 games, and defensive lineman Evan Anderson, who was limited to just C-USA action but still managed to record 27 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss of 12 yards.
Honorable mentions were bestowed to: LaJohntay Wester as both wide receiver and as a punt returner; offensive lineman Nick Weber, who started a program record 48-consecutive games at center for the Owls; safety/nickel and team co-captain Teja Young; safety Armani Adams, punter Riley Thompson, and long snapper Nicholas Marino, who has provided all but one long snap for the Owls over the last three seasons.
The C-USA All-Freshman Team was also announced on Tuesday. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Tony Johnson, who was honored last week as a member of the C-USA All-Academic team, linebacker Jaylen Wester and kick returner Jayshon Platt received recognition.
Note: Only Bordner and Weber have exhausted their collegiate eligibility.
