MBB | Vokietaitis and Carroll Receive Weekly AAC Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Freshman center Matas Vokietaitis has been named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, while redshirt junior forward Tre Carroll made another appearance among the AAC honors for the second consecutive week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Vokietaitis totaled 30 points in the wins over Jacksonville and Texas State this past week, averaging 15.0 per game with a total of 17 rebounds and a steal and going 12-for-16 from the field, Vokietaitis has received the AAC Freshman of the Week for the third time in his young collegiate career.

Carroll led the team with 35 points off the bench for Florida Atlantic for a 2-0 record over the past week. He recorded eight boards, four steals, and a block in the wins to improve the Owls to a 7-5 record. After being named AAC Player of the Week, Carroll finds his name on the list once again, this time as an honorable mention recipient.

UP NEXT

The Owls will play their final game before the new year in a visit to Michigan State on Saturday, Dec. 21. The matchup will air on Fox Sports 1 and tip off at 2 p.m.
