MBB | Owls Travel to Orlando to Face the Knights

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic’s men’s basketball team heads north for their first official road game of the 2024-25 season, taking on UCF on Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled at 7 p.m. for the matchup, airing on ESPN+.

Now 2-0, the Owls face a fellow undefeated opponent in the 2-0 Knights, renewing an in-state rivalry that dates back to 1992. The two programs have met 32 times. While UCF holds the series, FAU took the victory the last time they met in 2018, overcoming a 20-point deficit for the 80-79 upset win.

LAST TIME OUT

In their home opener, the Owls picked up their 13th straight win at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, now moving to 32-1 on Abessinio Court since March of 2022. It came in blowout fashion with a 99-49 final score that saw the team record 53 rebounds, 26 assists and 17 steals, each the most in a single game by FAU since 2020. Redshirt senior guard Ken Evans Jr. and sophomore forward Kaleb Glenn led the way in scoring with 18 apiece.

  • Head Coach John Jakus enters his first season at the helm of the Owls
  • Florida Atlantic is averaging 98 points per game. 32 ppg are coming from fastbreak points, the top mark in the nation among teams who have played multiple games. Their average margin of victory so far is 41.5, eighth in the nation
  • Eight different players have had double-digit scoring outings. Evans Jr. leads the team with 14.0 points per game

  • UCF is led by Head Coach Johnny Dawkins in his ninth season
  • The Knights’ top scorer so far is fifth year guard Jordan Ivy-Curry, transferring from AAC opponent UTSA. He is currently putting up 17.0 ppg
  • Senior guard Darius Johnson has dished out a team-high 12 assists while averaging 15.5 points
  • As a true freshman, the 7-2 center Moustapha Thiam has eight blocks, ranking third in the nation
  • The Knights are coming off two consecutive NIT bids
  • UCF owns the all-time series versus Florida Atlantic, 22-10
