11/8/2024 | Men’s Basketball BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men’s basketball team took down Coastal Georgia in a 50-point victory, 99-49, for their 2024-25 home opener at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. FAU now moves to 2-0 on the season, scoring 95+ in each of their first two games with an average margin of victory of 41.5 points. Offense came alive midway through the first half and the Owls never looked back, keyed by 50 points off the bench and 40 fastbreak points. FIRST HALF A 44-11 run to close out the first half gave the Owls a 51-20 advantage entering the locker room. Much like their season-opener against Indiana State, the Owls relied on spark plugs off the bench, this time from sophomore forward Kaleb Glenn and redshirt junior forward Tre Carroll. The duo combined for 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting, with the former knocking in two three-pointers and the latter going on a 9-0 run by himself with a highlight slam dunk. SECOND HALF Redshirt junior guard Ken Evans Jr. fired away from downtown, going 3-for-4 in the final period and finishing with six triples on the night for 18 total points. The Owls built a lead that grew as large as 54, with 25 fastbreak points, 18 of them coming off turnovers. PRESS CONFERENCES STATS & NOTES Evans Jr. and Glenn each logged a game-high 18 points. All six of Evans Jr.’s field goals came from beyond the arc, with Glenn knocking in three from beyond the arc Graduate guard KyKy Tandy scored 12 points on four three-point field goals The team recorded 53 rebounds, their most since Dec. 3, 2020. Carroll and junior forward Baba Miller each had a game-high nine as the Owls outrebounded the Mariners by 26 After recording 15 steals in the opening game, the Owls were able to top it with 17 against the Mariners. Evans Jr. and Moretti led the way with four apiece, with Miller and Tandy each adding three 26 assists for the Owls is the most since Dec. 21, 2020.
