3/5/2025 | Men’s Basketball BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida Atlantic’s men’s basketball team will play its final week in the regular season with a road matchup against UAB on Thursday, Mar. 6 at 7 p.m. EST, followed by Senior Day at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena versus East Carolina on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 1 p.m.The Owls are seeking their first win in Birmingham in program history in Thursday’s matchup against the Blazers (19-10, 12-4 AAC).Florida Atlantic is currently slated for the fifth seed in the following week’s American Athletic Conference Championship tournament, which can be clinched with a win over the Pirates (17-12, 9-7) on Sunday in a matchup on ESPN+. Sunday will also mark “Senior Day,” where KyKy Tandy, Ken Evans Jr., and Jack Johnson will be honored for their contributions to the program. He has been named a finalist for the 2024-25 Joe B. Hall Award, given to the best first-year head coach. Sophomore forward Kaleb Glenn made his first start as an FAU player and his first double-double as an Owl with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the team’s 69-63 victory over South Florida. He leads Florida Atlantic in scoring at 12.9 points per game and is nearing 500 career points, currently at 498.Center Matas Vokietaitis has won five AAC Freshman of the Week awards, the most of any player in the conference. Redshirt junior forward Tre Carroll has converted a three-pointer in seven consecutive games. After reaching 100 assists on the season, redshirt sophomore guard Niccolo Moretti joined Leland Walker, who currently has 120. They are the first Owl duo since 2011-12 to dish out 100+ assists in a season. The Owls are ranked 15th nationally in bench ppg (30.8). FAU is second in the AAC in assists (16.4 apg), third in field goal percentage (46.5%), and is the fourth-highest-scoring team in the conference (79.2 ppg). Junior forward Baba Miller is third in blocks per game (1.7), and Walker is fifth in assists per game (4.1). ABOUT THE BLAZERS Head Coach Andy Kennedy is in his fifth year in charge of the program and has four NCAA Tournament appearances in his career, two with the Blazers. UAB, the reigning AAC champions, is the top-scoring team in the conference at 83.5 points per game, also ranked 14th nationally, on 46.5% shooting from the field. The Blazers are one of the best to crash the glass, hauling in an average of 40.1 rebounds per game, ranked 15th in the nation. Senior forward Yaxel Lendeborg, the preseason AAC Player of the Year, makes his mark on both ends of the floor, leading the team in points at 17.3 ppg and is top 10 nationally in rebounds (10.7 per game). He also leads the conference in blocks (1.8) and is top five in assists (4.2).UAB leads the all-time series against Florida Atlantic with a 15-6 advantage. All six of the Owls’ wins have come in Boca Raton. ABOUT THE PIRATES ECU is led by Head Coach Michael Schwartz is in his third season. The Pirates boast the fourth and fifth top scorers in the AAC, with senior guard RJ Felton and graduate forward C.J. Walker averaging 18.8 and 17.6 points per game, respectively. With 4.7 per game, ECU leads the conference in blocks. Senior guard Jordan Riley is at the top of the AAC in steals per game at 2.0. This will mark the seventh all-time meeting between the Owls and the Pirates. Florida Atlantic won the matchup earlier in the season, escaping with a 78-76 victory on Jan. 5. TICKETS For 2025 AAC tournament, ticket packages are reserved seating priced in three tiers: tier one ($400 per seat), tier two ($325 per seat), and tier three ($250 per seat). All ticket packages are subject to Ticketmaster and facility fees.
