MATCH RECAP: Inter Miami CF II Comes Up Short 1-0 on the Road Against New England Revolution II

Foxborough, MA (May 28, 2023) – Inter Miami CF II (3W-6L-1D, 10 points) narrowly fell 1-0 against New England Revolution II on Sunday evening at Gillette Stadium.

The Heron’s starting XI featured CJ dos Santos in goal; Nykolas Sessock, Modesto Mendez, Farid Sar-Sar, and Cesar Abadia-Reda in the backline; Lawson Sunderland, Lucas Meek, Bryan Destin, Ricardo Montenegro, and captain Abel Caputo filling the midfield; and Miles Perkovich leading the attack. 

The first half opened up with New England Revolution II taking an early lead in the seventh minute with a goal by defender Pierre Cayet. 

Inter MIami then created several opportunities in attack throughout the remainder of the half in search of the equalizer. In particular, Inter Miami nearly put the ball in the back of the net with a right-footed shot by Lucas Meek that hit the goal post in the 43rd minute of action. Despite the team’s efforts in attack, the match went into the half with the hosts leading 1-0.

Throughout the second half, Inter Miami pushed to find the equalizer. Despite the team’s efforts in attack, New England was able to hold onto their 1-0 lead to claim the three points.

Inter Miami CF II returns to action next weekend as the team hits the road and travels to Georgia to take on Atlanta United II next Sunday, June 4th at 7:30 p.m. ET at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
