MARLINS ANNOUNCE HIRES IN BASEBALL OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT

Additions include former Washington Nationals Assistant General Manager Sam Mondry-Cohen, former Houston Astros Farm Director Sara Goodrum, and Pitching Strategist Brandon Mann

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced additions to their Baseball Operations department under President of Baseball Operations Peter Bendix, including:

  • Sam Mondry-Cohen – Vice President, Player Personnel
  • Sara Goodrum – Director, Special Projects
  • Brandon Mann – Pitching Strategist

With their exceptional character and skill sets, Sam, Sara, and Brandon are great additions to our Marlins family.”

Mondry-Cohen joins the Marlins organization as Vice President of Player Personnel after spending the last two seasons as Major League Analytics Coordinator with the Chicago White Sox (2023) and as a consultant for the Philadelphia Phillies (2022). He previously served as Assistant General Manager, Baseball Research & Development for three years with the Washington Nationals (2017-19), where he led the implementation of baseball data and development of department-wide baseball systems. The San Francisco native spent 13 seasons in various roles within the Nationals’ Baseball Operations department after joining as an intern in 2009, including Director of Baseball Research & Development (2013-17) and Analyst (2010-13). A graduate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, he worked as a batboy in the visiting clubhouse of the San Francisco Giants from 2004-08.

Goodrum has been appointed Director of Special Projects, where she will assist in various projects throughout all of the Marlins Baseball Operations department. Goodrum spent the last two seasons as Director of Player Development with the Houston Astros from 2022-23, where she oversaw all of the Player Development staff for the Astros organization. Prior to joining Houston, she worked for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2017-21, holding the role of Minor League Hitting Coordinator during the 2021 season. Goodrum played college softball and received a bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon before receiving a master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Utah.

Mann joins Miami as Pitching Strategist after working with Driveline Baseball for the past two years. Previously, he served as Pitching Coordinator with the Lotte Giants of the KBO League during the 2021 campaign shortly after retiring from professional baseball in 2020. Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 27th round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft, Mann made his Major League debut with the Texas Rangers on May 13, 2018 at 33 years, 362 days old. The left-hander went 68-100 with 4 saves and a 4.23 ERA (689 ER/1464.1 IP) over 17 seasons at various levels in professional baseball.
