M-SOC | Owls Open AAC Schedule at UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer (2-2-1) begins conference play on Saturday against UAB (2-1-3). Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST. The match will be streamed on ESPN+. It’s the first of seven AAC matches on the regular season schedule leading up to the postseason tournament beginning November 8.
About the Owls
The Owls are coming off a month-long homestand where they went 2-1 (not including the Stetson match that they led 3-1 in the 53rd minute before it was suspended due to weather).
Last Friday, FAU shut out UNF 2-0, led by a brace from striker Mamadou Diarra.
Goalkeeper Nacho Alfaro made two saves to keep the clean sheet and earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week for his performance.
Diarra and center back Callum Frogson each earned a nod to the AAC Honorable Mention List.
About the Blazers
UAB has drawn its last two matches against Georgia Southern and Stetson.
The Blazers have wins over North Florida and Georgia State, both by 1-0 finals.
UAB missed the AAC tournament last season, finishing 0-11-4 overall and 0-7-1 in conference play.
Series History
Florida Atlantic has won five straight against UAB dating back to 2019.The all-time series history favors the Owls 7-6.
What’s Next
The Owls take a brief step out of conference play for a midweek matchup at Jacksonville on Tuesday night before returning home to face Temple on September 29.
