8/20/2025 | Men’s Soccer BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer begins its 2025 campaign at home on Thursday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff versus Creighton. The Owls will host the Omaha Mavericks on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. ABOUT THE OWLS The Owls finished fourth in the American Conference in 2024 with a record of 7-6-3. Head Coach Joey Worthen enters his ninth season at the helm. Five starters from last year’s team return, led by American Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Mamadou Diarra. Forward Aboubacar Traore (4 goals, 10 assists) and midfielder Sebastian Zettl (3 goals, 9 assists) were also named to the preseason all-conference team. This year’s squad includes 16 newcomers. Defender Fabrizio Cubeddu is a newcomer to this year’s team but not a newcomer to FAU. The Davie, Fla. native played 22 games for the Owls in 2020-21 before transferring to Northeastern, where he played the last three seasons. ABOUT THE BLUE JAYS Creighton went 9-6-3 overall and 4-3-1 in the Big East in 2024. This year’s team has plenty of youth with 12 freshmen. The Blue Jays were picked to finish second in the Midwest Division of the Big East. Junior Miguel Arilla is expected to lead the offense after providing four goals and seven assists in 2024. The Owls and Blue Jays played to a scoreless draw in last season’s matchup in Omaha. ABOUT THE MAVERICKS Omaha finished 7-7-3 overall and 2-5-1 in the SUMMIT League in 2024. Head coach Donovan Dowling enters his fourth season at the helm. Graduate senior Theo Klein returns to lead the offense after posting eight goals in 2024. Omaha clipped the Owls 3-2 in last season’s showdown. SERIES HISTORY The Owls are 0-1-1 all-time against Creighton. Last season’s matchup with Omaha was the first meeting between the two sides. WHAT’S NEXT The Owls wrap up the season-opening three-match homestand on Thursday, Aug. 28, against Jacksonville.
