M-SOC | Owls Make it Official, Finish Off Victory over Stetson

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer completed a 5-1 win over Stetson on Tuesday afternoon, just less than two months after the match was halted due to lightning on August 29.
The Owls started the day with a 3-1 lead and 37 minutes remaining in the second half. They would add two more to that total with goals from Ajay Stewart and Noel Williamson, each scoring for the first time in their respective FAU careers.
Sebastian Zettl provided the primary assist on Stewart’s goal. It was his fourth assist of the game, breaking the program’s single-game record. He previously tied the record by factoring on all three of Mamadou Diarra’s goals in the first half back on August 29. Diarra’s hat trick was the program’s first since 2014.
Francisco Ranieri made one save in relief of Nacho Alfaro, who originally started the match. The Owls outshot the Hatters 19-5 with 10 attempts on goal compared to five for the visitors.
Officially, it will go down as the Owls’ first win of the season while at the same time bringing their season record to 6-4-3.
