BOCA RATON, Fla. – Oliver Moller-Jensen scored with 49 seconds left in the second half to lead No. 22 Florida Atlantic men’s soccer to a 1-0 win over Jacksonville (1-2) on Thursday night. The Owls (3-0) are yet to concede a goal in three matches so far this season.
An evenly played first half finished with each team attempting four shots on goal. The Owls turned the tide in the second half, though, and controlled possession.
It took until the final minute for a breakthrough. From just outside the six-yard box, Matthew Alfred’s shot attempt was blocked, and the rebound fell into the path of Moller-Jensen. With 49 seconds left on the clock, the junior kept his composure and rifled an attempt past the JU keeper. The Owls fended off one final response from the Dolphins to improve to 3-0.
Reigning American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, Alfred Mikkelsen, tallied three saves to record his third consecutive clean sheet. Both teams finished with three shots on target.
