LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men’s golf lapped the field at the Southern Invitational on Tuesday, earning its second team victory of the 2023-24 campaign. Leading the way was senior Max Sturdza who captured the first individual win of his career after five previous runner-up finishes.

- Entering the day with a two-shot lead, Sturdza was undeterred by a bogey at the second hole. He proceeded to birdie six straight from the fourth through the ninth to close the front nine in 30.
- The senior didn’t let his foot off the gas on the back nine either. He added another birdie at 12, drove the green and eagled the short par-four 15th, and closed with one last birdie at the par-five 18th.
- The birdie on 18 not only sealed Sturdza’s first career victory; it clinched a bevy of program records.
- The final round 63 is the lowest round in program history.
- Sturdza’s 54-hole total of 197 (-16) broke the previous record of 202 set by Adam Kolloff in 2007.
- As a team, the Owls round three total of 269 set a new 18-hole team record.
- All five of the Owls possible counting scores finished inside the Top 10.
- Jack Wehle recorded the best finish of his career in solo third. Wehle signed for a final round 65 on Tuesday that included four birdies and an eagle.
- Juan Delgado and Jake Hibbert each tied for fifth. Hibbert circled six birdies in route to a final round 70 (-1). Delgado earned his career best finish with a 73 (+2).
- Andres Atrio climbed four spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 10th with a final round 71 (E).
- The Owls won the team competition by a whopping 24 shots over second-place St. John’s (-5).
- Individually, NaShawn Tyson tied for 8th at one-under – also a career best finish.
