Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week

Melbourne, Fla. – Jose Porfirio Ordonez of the Lynn University men’s tennis team was tabbed the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Porifiro Ordonez, in his fourth season as a staple in the Fighting Knights’ starting lineup, captures the first SSC Player of the Week accolade of his career. The Fighting Knights have won four of the possible six men’s tennis awards so far this season.
Porfirio Ordonez and the third-ranked Blue and White took down a pair of NCAA Division I opponents this week. The Fighting Knights first defeated Georgetown, 5-2, before dropping a strong University of Texas-Arlington squad, 4-3, with Porfirio providing the match-clinching point.
The Cadiz, Spain, native went 2-0 in the match against the Mavericks, starting with a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles with partner Lucca Baptista. Lynn and UTA were all tied up at 3-3 with No. 4 singles left to finish. Porfirio, the 38th-ranked singles player in Division II, logged a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 triumph to clinch a 4-3 win for the Blue and White.
Against the Hoyas, Porfirio and Baptista won the No. 2 doubles flight, 6-2.
