All-Sunshine State Conference

Melbourne, Fla. – Lynn University softball player Kayla Sheffield was named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.  This marks the sixth consecutive year of at least one selection for the softball program.

Sheffield becomes the third player in program history, joining Lynn and SSC Hall of Famer Christina Rolla (2004-06) and Jenna Piotrowski (2003-05), to be a three-time All-SSC pick.  This is her second selection as a designated player following last year’s first team honor.  Sheffield received second team laurels as a pitcher in 2017.

The junior out of Auburndale, Fla., hit .241 with a team-high five home runs, 18 runs batted in, 25 walks and 18 hit by pitch.  She also belted eight doubles and swiped five bases.  Sheffield is second in the conference in HBP, tied for third in walks and tied for sixth in home runs.  Her 43 free passes leads the SSC.

Lynn ended the season with a 16-36 overall record and 6-24 mark in SSC play.  The Fighting Knights return 11 letterwinners, including Sheffield, for 2020.
