Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week

Melbourne, Fla.
– For the third time in the past four weeks, Lynn University’s men’s lacrosse team was represented in the Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week announcement. On Monday, Dryden Brous was named SSC Specialist of the Week while Greg Morissette was tabbed SSC Defensive Player of the Week.

Brous wins his third SSC weekly award of the season, and 11th of his career, further extending his Lynn University record for most awards all-time by a Fighting Knight. He trails only Tampa’s Connor Whipple (12) for the most in SSC men’s lacrosse history. Morissette claims the first award in his four-year career at Lynn.

The Blue and White men’s lacrosse squad capped the regular season with an 11-10 overtime win on Saturday. With the win, the Fighting Knights captured the 2019 Sunshine State Conference Regular Season Championship, marking the first title in program history. The Blue and White extended their program-record winning streak to eight games, while their 11 total victories and six SSC wins this year are both the most-ever in a regular season.

Brous was fantastic at the dot, winning 19-of-23 faceoffs with 10 ground balls. He had 12 faceoff wins before halftime and only lost one draw (7-of-8) in the second half and OT, which included a key faceoff win at the start of overtime that led to the game-winning goal. Brous is currently ranked in the top-two of the SSC in faceoff winning percentage and ground balls per game.

Morissette had a solid all-around performance, leading all non-specialists in the ground ball department with six, while posting a career-high three caused turnovers. The long-pole winger also took a ground ball off a faceoff straight to the cage, burying his third goal of the season.
