BOCA RATON, Fla. – Following an outstanding senior season, Lynn University men’s basketball alumni Michael Baez has officially signed to play professional basketball in the Dominican Republic.
Baez was a first round selection, sixth overall, of Reales de la Vega, whom were League Champions in 2018. Located in La Vega province in the Dominican Republic, Reales competes in the top division of Dominican professional basketball, Liga Nacional de Baloncesto (LNB).
A do-it-all player for the Fighting Knights, the Charlotte, N.C., native was named First Team All-Sunshine State Conference and Second Team All-Region by the D2CCA. Baez averaged a team-high 18.8 ppg to go along with 6.1 rpg and 1.7 apg during the 2018-19 season. The 6-5 guard-forward showed his marksmanship from deep, shooting 40.6 percent from three, and from the charity stripe, knocking down over five free throws per game at an 83.0 percent clip. He started all 32 games for the Blue and White as a senior, posting 15 20+ point performances.
The LNB’s official 2019 season tips off at the beginning of September with Reales playing its first contest on Sep. 4.
