Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez Announces Fourth Annual Spring 2025 Florida Space Art Contest for K-5 Students

MIAMI, Fla.—Today, Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez announced the launch of the 2025 Florida Space Art Contest. Students in grades K–5 are encouraged to create an art piece inspired by the theme: Liftoff! Florida’s Spaceship of the Future.

“I am thrilled to announce the launch of the Fourth Annual Lieutenant Governor’s Space Art Contest,” said Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez. “Over the last three years, Florida’s students have shown their overwhelming support and excitement for space through this art contest. This year’s theme gives students creative control to engineer the spaceship of tomorrow. Florida’s rich history of rocket ships and astronauts helped put the first man on the moon, and in the near future, we’ll see others travel to deep space and one day land on Mars. Florida serves as the launch capital of the world, and we are seeing rockets launch at an incredible rate. I am excited to see the innovative and futuristic designs our young artists will bring to life.”

“The Florida Space Art Contest has become an inspiring tradition, celebrating the creativity and talent of Florida’s students as they envision the future of space,” said Rob Long, president and CEO of Space Florida. “This year, we’re inviting students to design the spacecraft that could one day journey to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. I’m excited to see how our young artists bring their visions to life, showcasing not only their imagination but Florida’s leading role in space.”

“The space industry has played a large role in the success of our state, and it is important for students to learn about the history of space exploration,” said Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. “I encourage all students to participate in the Space Art Contest.”
