BIRMINGHAM – Stella Kiss, Audria Wood and Lexxe Lipsey were all named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league announced Friday.
Kiss and Wood were named to the first team, while Lipsey was named to the second team.
Kiss, an accounting major, has earned the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and has been a member of the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She is tied for second on the Blazers with three goals and tied for third with seven points. She has started all 16 matches and scored the game-winner with career highs seven shots and five on target at Kennesaw State, Kiss also added goals against Mercer and Rice and recorded an assist against No. 23 Arizona State. Kiss’ GPA is 3.92.
Wood, who is working on her master’s in public health after earning a degree biology in December 2020, has earned the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and has been a member of the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She has also appeared on the UAB Dean’s and President’s Lists. She has helped anchor a defensive line with a goals against average of 0.82 and two shutouts in conference play. Wood has a GPA of 4.0.
This is the second consecutive season Kiss and Wood were named to the first team.
Lipsey, who is working on her MBA, graduated Summa Cum Laude in December 2020 with a degree in English and a minor in Spanish. An NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program recipient and a UAB Presidential Honor Roll honoree, she also has won the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports-Scholar Award and was a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Lipsey also made the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and earned the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal. She is tied for third on the Blazers with seven points and second with three assists. Lipsey GPA of 3.83.
This is the second consecutive season Lipsey were named to the All-Academic Team.
The Blazers begin their quest for the Conference USA title on Wednesday afternoon when they take on WKU at 3:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.
