NEW YORK — Sept. 25, 2024 — Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Indianapolis Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones and Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 3 (September 19, 22-23).
OFFENSE: QB JOSH ALLEN, BUFFALO BILLS
- Allen completed 23 of 30 attempts (76.7 percent) for 263 yards and four touchdowns with a 142.1 passer rating, and rushed for 44 yards, helping Buffalo defeat Jacksonville, 47-10. Allen’s four touchdown passes are tied for the most in an NFL game this season.
- This is the 13th-career Player of the Week Award for Allen, the most in franchise history:
- 2018: Week 17
- 2019: Week 11
- 2020: Weeks 2, 9, 13, 15
- 2021: Week 3
- 2022: Weeks 5, 6, 15
- 2023: Weeks 2, 4
- 2024: Week 3
- Allen becomes the 10th quarterback ever to win Offensive Player of the Week 13-or-more times, tying Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana (13 times). Allen’s 13 Player of the Week Awards are the most among any player since entering the NFL in 2018.
DEFENSE: CB JAYLON JONES, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
- Jones recorded five tackles, two interceptions and a tackle for loss in the Colts’ 21-16 victory over the Bears. Jones is the second player this season with two interceptions in a game (Ja’Marcus Ingram, Week 2).
- This is Jones’ first Defensive Player of the Week Award in his career. Jones is the sixth Colts defensive back to win the award in the past 10 years, joining Mike Adams (Week 5, 2015), Darius Butler (Week 9, 2015), Mike Mitchell (Week 7, 2018), Xavier Rhodes (Week 3, 2020) and Kenny Moore (Week 14, 2020 and Week 9, 2023).
- Jones joins Kevin Smith (Week 16, 1993) and Aaron Glenn (Week 14, 2002) as the only former Texas A&M defensive backs to earn the honor.
SPECIAL TEAMS: K WIL LUTZ, DENVER BRONCOS
- Lutz converted both point after attempts and all four of his field goal attempts in Denver’s 26-7 victory at Tampa Bay, including two from over 40 yards. Lutz’s 14 points scored were the most by any kicker in the NFL in Week 3.
- This is the fifth-career Special Teams Player of the Week Award for Lutz:
