Brown is one of just 16 players with eligibility remaining to be invited
TAMPA (Dec. 12, 2019) – University of South Florida men’s soccer standout Javain Brown has been invited to the inaugural adidas MLS College Showcase, Dec. 13-15, in Raleigh, N.C. The three-day event will give technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout the top collegiate prospects in the nation, including players with remaining NCAA eligibility. Brown is one of just 16 players selected, out of 40 players invited, to still have eligibility remaining.

The Showcase will feature 40 top college players, ranging from freshmen to seniors, participating in a series of training sessions, testing, interviews, and match play. This event will allow MLS clubs to interact with potential SuperDraft selections earlier in their collegiate careers without jeopardizing players’ collegiate eligibility.
The 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase occurs in conjunction with the 2019 NCAA Men’s College Cup and is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA.
Brown, a redshirt freshman defender from Kingston, Jamaica, made a tremendous impact on the offensive side of the ball, scoring seven points (3g, 1a). His three goals were good for a tie for first on the team this season. However, defensively, he was a leader on the back line, making several crucial plays throughout the season. Brown started 17 of the Bulls’ 18 matches this season, logging over 1,500 minutes played.
For his efforts, during the 2019 campaign, Brown was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-East Region Team and was also an America Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team selection.
This season, USF posted an 11-7-1 record that included a win over No. 5 Louisville and made its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance.
