DETROIT – The NBA G League announced today that Motor City Cruise Head Coach Jamelle McMillan has been named NBA G League Coach of the Month for November.
In his first year as a head coach in the NBA G League, McMillan led Motor City to their best start in franchise history. After starting 4-0 to begin the showcase, Motor City finished the month of November with a 6-2 record.
In the month of November, the Cruise averaged 117.8 points, which is the highest scoring average Motor City has ever put up in the first month of the season. The Cruise also shot 46.8% from the floor, which is the highest field goal percentage across the month of November in franchise history. Defensively, the Cruise averaged 7.8 blocks per game, which ranked 2nd in the league over that span. Motor City finished the month of November with the lowest turnovers per game average in the entire NBA G League (13.8). During the season opener on Nov. 12 in Grand Rapids, the Cruise only committed three turnovers.
“This is an exciting and well-deserved moment for Jamelle [McMillan] and our entire operation. His everyday pursuit to better our players, both individually and collectively is critical to our on-court success so far,” said Motor City Cruise General Manager, Ben Carloni.
The Motor City Cruise (6-3) will be back in action tomorrow, Dec. 5, at the Wayne State Fieldhouse (Detroit, MI) to take on the Cleveland Charge (5-4). Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET.
