(On what the defense struggled with today) “We struggled with the third down. We’re not getting off the field obviously and that’s hurting us.”
(On his role during Minshew’s touchdown passes) “The first one was on me. I tried to anticipate the play and I got too greedy. On the third one, DJ came from the backside. We were in a form of cover two. I don’t know where he came from, but you can put it on me, that’s cool.”
(On getting personal fouls during today’s game) “I was informed that I hit him in the head. All I have to do is continue to be myself and try not to hurt the team. That’s not my intention, so I don’t know, I don’t want to say anything that’s going to get me in trouble.”
(On hitting a player out of bounds) “The mark is right there when we’re were both heading to the marker. For me to slow down, I think I’m letting my team down by giving him the first. I left it out there as far as I saw he was in bounds. I don’t even want to continue. It’s tough. The two refs that were near the play didn’t throw the flag; it was the back judge. I didn’t talk to the back judge. It’s real tough. At the end of the day, I guess I have to be smarter and kind of just let him go by.”
(On Minshew’s first touchdown pass) “I anticipated the play; I guessed wrong. I thought he was going to run an out but he didn’t. It happens. People kind of expect me not to make a mistake in a way. It is what it is. I’m out there trying to play ball and make plays for this team. I anticipated wrong. I take the blame. I don’t run from it. I don’t run from any adversity. I’m a man so I’m going to take it.”
(On his thoughts after losing another game) “We’re 1-6. It’s been three years. It’s frustrating. I just want to win.”
