(On if he is excited to be in Jacksonville) “Super excited. The love was there, mutual interest and the
opportunity, just couldn’t turn it down. So, I’m excited and happy to be here.”
(On what he knew about the Jaguars before he came here and what he has to offer) “Honestly, not much
but as far as what I have to offer, just explosiveness, excitement, speed and physicality. Just excited to
play my game and bring my game to Jacksonville.”
(On what he knows about QB Trevor Lawrence) “He can sling it, great arm. Definitely wasn’t fun going
against him, especially during the 2022 year.”
(On how the coaches plan to utilize him) “Nothing for sure yet, but was in the works of just having the
opportunity to get on the field and make plays, get the ball in my hand, things of that nature.”
(On what he knows about WR Jamal Agnew and if he has talked to him before) “I haven’t really talked to
him a lot, I’ve talked to him pregame and stuff when we’ve played Jacksonville. Definitely a great player,
watched him a lot and he was great at what he did.”
(On if he has thought about the new proposed kickoff rule) “Not really, I haven’t put too much thought
into it. I’ve heard about it but I haven’t put too much thought into it, but I have heard about it.”
(On if it’s important for him to get a shot at playing receiver) “I mean yeah, that’s definitely important.
Just getting on the field, more ways to touch the ball and impact the game is definitely a vision of mine.”
(On if he has any connections on the team or coaching staff that he knew previously) “There aren’t any
prior connections that I’ve had with any staff members.”
(On if they just gave him a call and said, “Jacksonville is interested”) “Yeah for sure.”
(On if there was a chance he would return to Baltimore) “After the season I just weighed out all of my
options and just wanted to seek out the best opportunity for myself and for my future. So, I mean
whether that was Baltimore or not I just felt Jacksonville was a good shot.”
(On if he did homework on Head Coach Doug Pederson before signing) “A little bit and then I kind of
watched from afar over the past couple of years. So yeah, that’s where I was at that standpoint.”
(On his impression of the Jaguars roster after playing them two years in a row) “Yeah, it was a good
young squad, good young quarterback and it felt like they could only go up.”

(On how excited he is to be in Jacksonville) “I’m really excited. I think it’s such a long process, it just feels
like it’s dragged out so to finally figure out where you’re going and to get here and have all the same
feelings that you had when you made your decision, it feels good. I’m happy to be here.”
(On what made Jacksonville so intriguing) “Just the energy. The energy from the coaches, just everybody
here. I kind of had a feel for that during the whole process and it’s stayed true since I’ve gotten here. I’m
excited.”
(On if Florida was a selling point at all) “I mean yeah, the warm weather, of course.”
(On if he had any connections to the roster or coaches that helped make a sales pitch) “Well, I worked
with Cory Robinson [Defensive Assistant/Cornerbacks Coach]. I worked with him when I was in college at
Maryland. So, he’s a good guy. I’ve been around him for a long time, I think he knows me so I feel like he
put out a pretty good pitch.”
(On what part of his game was the biggest selling point for Jacksonville) “My versatility. I can do a lot of
different things. I’ve been playing safety these past few years but I really truly believe I can move around
and just do anything on the defensive side of the ball. So, I’m excited for that and ready to get to work.”
(On if the Jaguars plan to move play him at different positions on the defense) “We’ll see, I just got here
today. I just landed a few hours ago, we aren’t really talking ball like that yet. I’m just excited to put
names to faces and just meet everybody and feel all the good vibes around here.”
(On if he’s heard anything about Head Coach Doug Pederson or Defensive Coordinator Ryan Nielsen
before signing) “Yeah, obviously Doug Pederson is a Super Bowl guy. Won one as a player and as a coach
I’m pretty sure. Then, Coach Nielsen has been around and he’s coached a lot of great players. Just his
energy, he’s a get after it kind of guy so I like that.”
(On if the decision to pick Jacksonville was a difficult process) “It’s always a difficult decision when you
are basically picking up and moving to a whole new location. But it’s kind of one of those things where
you kind of have to go with your gut a little bit. I was talking to a couple of my friends that are in the NFL
too and I feel like our whole lives we just pick up and go. We get adjusted, that’s kind of what we do.
That’s what people do in general, whether it be a job or anything. So, I just look at it like that and then
you’ve just got to trust your gut. You can’t go into anything with bad vibes, you’re not really going to get
too much good out of it.”
(On if he sees himself as a chess piece on defense) “Well, I feel like I can play anywhere. At the end of the
day, I’ve got to do what my coaches ask of me and what my teammates ask of me. I’m here to be the
best player and the best teammate I can possibly be.”

(On reports of signing with the team occurring while he was already in Florida) “Yeah, I was at UCF
[University of Central Florida], watching my brother and watching the whole team. Gus actually wanted
me to talk to the receivers, he was saying like, ’20 minutes, come talk to the receivers real quick.’ I’m like,
I got to go. I got phone calls I’m about to be on. I went home, showered, I got a gym down there in
Orlando that I run, so I was sitting in the conference room there and as soon as 12 o’clock hit, it all just
started going and going. As soon as I heard Jacksonville, I was like, ‘Thank God, they called. Thank God.’ I
wanted to come back to Florida, I wanted to be around guys that I knew, a coast that I loved and the
team is great. Shoot, we could never beat them. Came here and as soon as they sent it in, negotiating
was in and then boom, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m a Jaguar man.’ A pretty easy decision.”
(On what he thinks of Head Coach Doug Pederson and Wide Receivers Coach Chad Hall) “Well, Chad is
like family. I was with him for three years in Buffalo. Family first, and no matter if I was here or
somewhere else, I still talk to Chad on the regular. He’s definitely a dear friend of mine. I was also able to
have some friends that have been through here and also play here, [WR] Christian Kirk and I know [WR]
Zay Jones. I’ve talked to Trevor [QB Trevor Lawrence] before but being able to get some real insight on
how this place is run, on Doug, and how this is a great place to be. One of my buddies, [WR] Jacob
Harris, who I played at UCF with was here for awhile and he gave me some real good insight on
Jacksonville is the place to be and you’ll be happy here. I had some good people to tell me some good
things. It made my decision a lot easier.”
(On having OL Mitch Morse join the team with him from Buffalo) “As soon as I saw him sign, I was like
yeah, it’s destined to be. Mitch is my guy, a vet guy who I trust, a great player and great leader, great
teammate and he’s helped me a lot in this league. I’m so happy to be coming to a new place but still with
a lot of familiar faces. It makes this process a lot easier.”
(On what it means to play with QB Trevor Lawrence instead of against him) “Yeah, it’s funny because I
was talking a little bit ago about how in high school I went to the Nike Spark Camp down in Atlanta. I’m
looking at Trevor, and I was a nobody. You got this Clemson quarterback here, who as soon as you saw
him throw, you saw how talented he was. Now for it to be years and years later, being able to play with
him is awesome. He’s such a great player, from what I heard, he’s a great leader. I’m just excited to be
able to see it firsthand.”
(On how he feels he can fit into the Jaguars offense) “I feel like I can do it all. I did so much when I was at
Buffalo, whether if it was catching deep balls or lead blocking through the C gap, I’m very versatile and I
can play any time of game they need me to play, whichever week, any other week. I feel like that’s what I
bring, I was a 24-year-old captain at Buffalo, I feel like I got good leadership skills and I voted back-to-
back hardest worker there as well. That’s what I try to prove to my teammates; that they can trust me
because they see the sacrifice that I put in for my team and they see that I love this game and I don’t
take it for granted because it’s brought me so much. I try to show the guys that when times are tough,
they can depend on me.”
(On how he got to know WR Christian Kirk and WR Zay Jones) “I crossed paths with Zay a couple of
times. I think two years ago out at the Super Bowl and then again as well in Vegas. I saw him at a
restaurant, and we were chopping it up for a little bit. Then Kirk is in the same kind of circle of friends
that I’m in, so I was able to hang out with him last year at The Master’s and stuff. I got to know him a
little bit.”
(On who the common friend is in his friend group with WR Christian Kirk) “[Bills QB] Kyle Allen and [Bills
QB] Josh Allen.”
(On perception of the Jaguars when he played in Buffalo) “They’re a tough team. They play good, sound
football. They’re going to give it to you until the clock hits zero. We were, especially last year, it was a
dog fight until the end. You got respect for teams like that.”
(On why he wanted to get back to Florida) “It’s just because I feel like the opportunity here was good,
and again, being able to be near my family, football is not long. To have them be able to come and enjoy
these moments with me because one day, it’ll be over. To be able to come home, to be on a great team,
and to be with a guy that I trust is going to make me better was big.”
(On if he thought WR Calvin Ridley was going to be a Jaguar when he agreed to terms) “Yeah, I thought
Calvin was going to be here, but I knew there was that chance that he wasn’t. I got a lot of respect for
Calvin, I was a fan of him back when he was at Alabama. Whether he was here or not, still happy for him
for what he got over at Tennessee. I would’ve loved to have him here, he’s a great player and a great
person.”
(On what he thought of the Jaguars facility) “Top tier facility. From where I came from too, that’s top tier.
Coming here is nothing really different, so I’m happy that I didn’t get the F grade that some of these
teams. I think I’m somewhere where all around it’s just a great place to be.”
(On if the team has talked with him about his vision for the offense yet) “No. We were about to go talk
about that in a little bit.”
(On where he was born) “I was born in Fernandina Beach, people think I was born in Sanford though. I
didn’t tell anybody about that.”
(On if he grew up in Fernandina Beach) “No, Sanford guy, but I was born here though. My mom, back
there, for everyone to look at her. She hates when people do that. She went to school here, grew up
here a little bit over in Fernandina Beach. It’s funny, a Jags game was her first game and now she has a
son playing for the Jags so it comes full circle and I know she’s proud and happy. She’s free for interviews
if you guys want her to come up here, she’s free to come and talk about it.”
CORNERBACK RONALD DARBY

(On what drew him to the Jaguars) “It was more than a phone call. Doug [Head Coach Doug Pederson] of
course, I played with him. We had success before. He’s a great coach, so I didn’t have any problem at all
coming back to play for him. There wasn’t any like, I don’t know, once my agent told me, I was like,
‘Alright, I’m down.’ My agent got it done.”
(On Florida being a special place in his heart) “Yeah, I was planning on moving back out to Florida
anyways this year, so it really was like a blessing. It was like the Lord answered my prayers, it could work
out there too.”
(On how the team sees him fitting in with the defense) “I got a background of playing man, that’s what I
came into the league doing, that’s what I did all through college and all through my career. Different
places I went to, we ran different schemes and I got better at doing that. My number one thing has
always been playing man. I was always a bump and run corner from the Buffalo days, so it wasn’t really
that much they had to sell to me.”
(On if he knew Defensive Coordinator Ryan Nielsen prior to arriving) “Here, but not throughout the
journey.”
(On if he knew about Defensive Coordinator Ryan Nielsen’s style of defense) “Yeah, once they reached
out, my agent reached out because I did my research and stuff. It fits how I play, how I like to play, too.”
(On why he likes playing man defense) “It’s simple. I could run, it isn’t too much thinking, it isn’t too
much eye work. I could run, so like I’m not worried about anybody running by me. As long as your
technique is good at the line, you could stop a lot of things. Once you keep practicing it through camp
and just keep doing it, you start to get the feel for releases, routes, it all starts to look the same. You’re
chest to chest with someone, so it makes the pass even harder to throw and complete.”
(On having a source of pride to overcome so many injuries throughout his career) “It isn’t a surprise to
me, because I know my mindset and how my body feels. The times that I tore my ACLs, I was playing
great ball. I felt great, they were all noncontact, both of them. Me landing funny and things like that. Last
year, especially towards the second half when I was really getting my legs back under me, I was feeling
great. Right now, I feel great. I can still run, I feel good so it wasn’t that much.”
(On if he felt proud to overcome his injuries) “I really didn’t feel pride, that’s what I was saying. I already
knew I was going to bounce back. Especially after going through, it the first time, I knew what I had to do
for the second time. It helped me a lot. Naturally said, yes, I felt good.”
(On if he would like to settle with one team after being with many teams) “Yeah, of course. I don’t have
to keep moving and stuff like that. This is what the Lord had planned for me, so I’m just going to make
sure wherever I go I put the best film out there and play hard.”
(On challenge of moving around so frequently in the league) “Not too much my friends and family, it’s
just moving the furniture and stuff. That’s the hardest thing about moving itself, you just get tired of
packing stuff up. I have the same little couch, same bed, my travel gear. That’s how it is.”
(On if it was bittersweet leaving the northeast) “This was my second time playing up there, I was with
Washington during the COVID year, which nobody could come to the games or anything. It was cool
playing out in Baltimore and we did good last year. Home will always be home, I grew up there. I don’t
care, I went to school out here at FSU [Florida State University], so I’m not pressed to be back home,
there’s nothing there.”
(On matching up with WR Devin Duvernay in Baltimore) “Yeah, he’s a hard worker, for one. He can run,
for two. He’s a playmaker, special teams too. Kick return, punt return, that’s my boy.”
(On his impressions of playing the Jaguars in Week 17 last season) “A young team, they’re talented. The
atmosphere was crazy, a night game. There’s a lot of talent here, that’s why I had no problem coming
here because there’s a bunch of guys that want to win.”
(On coming from a successful team to a team that wants to play in big games) “Yeah, I did it before going
to teams that didn’t really have it all the way together. Error years, new head coach and stuff, you got to
deal with that every year. But I know this team and it’s moving forward, it’s moving up.”
(On what he liked playing under Head Coach Doug Pederson in the past) “I’ve been saying it all day, he’s
a straightforward coach. That’s all you ask for in a coach. He’s going to make sure you work hard, he’s
going to make sure things get done the way they need to get done. He likes to win just as much as the
players. I trust his schemes and he has success, he’s a great coach.”
(On expectation of playing on the outside or inside of the defense) “Of course, I always played outside
my whole career. But whatever the team needs from me, I’m going to do and I proved that last year.
Games I didn’t start at all in Baltimore and I had to just play kickoff and jam or punt return block. But I
went out there because that’s what the team needed from me at that time, so I’m just trying to win.”
(On if he’s spoken to any other cornerbacks on the team) “No, not yet.”
(On the significance of his hat) “Oh, I just got this, I was out in Vegas one time and I went to the store.
Frisky, I’m not saying I’m frisky. I just like the hat. It went with the shoes, that’s all.”
(On where he keeps his Super Bowl ring) “Super Bowl ring? It’s at my dad’s house. Wait, don’t I got it?
It’s at the crib, right? My dad got it, right? Yeah, it’s at my dad’s house. She [girlfriend] made a little
shrine and stuff with all the footballs and rings. Yeah, it’s at my dad’s house. I knew it was either or, I
can’t remember.”
QUARTERBACK MAC JONES

THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2024
“…I love this place, it’s my hometown. Obviously, there’s a lot of good things going on around here and
I’m looking forward to learning everybody’s names and just getting back into playing good football.”
(On if it was a dream to play for the Jaguars as a kid) “Yeah, a little bit. Coming into the games and
growing up as a fan and seeing all the good times and some of the bad times, it was obviously important
for me to fulfill my dream of playing in the NFL. I had a great opportunity in New England and I can’t
thank them enough. I’m happy to be here as a kid from Jacksonville, it’s definitely a dream come true.”
(On the process of New England asking them if he wanted to play in Jacksonville) “Yeah, I have all the
respect in the world for those guys up there. They’re my first team, they drafted me in the first round, I
can’t thank them enough. Obviously, we kind of just decided the mutual parting of ways was the best
decision for both of us, and for me, it was just about moving on and getting back home. I can’t be more
excited. For them, it’s about moving forward and turning the page. Really, that’s what we decided and I
think it’s a great decision.”
(On how he reflects on his time in New England) “A lot of great learning experiences. I learned from a
great head coach, obviously one of the greatest of all time. I’ve been fortunate to work with some great
head coaches and learned a lot. I played a lot of games, started a lot of games, and obviously things went
the way they did. My goal was to get the train back on the track. I think I can do that here and the
coaches here have talked to me about that, just how I can help the room and how I can learn from Trevor
[QB Trevor Lawrence] and everybody here. Obviously, he’s playing great football and he’s done a great
job here in Jacksonville. I’m excited to get back with him and C.J. [QB C.J. Beathard] and just learn from
them.”
(On if he has any regrets with how things went with himself in New England) “I think what I said earlier,
just the learning part of it. Every experience is a good experience if you learn from it. The games that we
lost, the things that happened, obviously you don’t ever want to lose, you want to win every game you
play in. But, I understand that’s sometimes really hard to do in the NFL and I don’t have regrets. I feel like
I’ve put everything out there and gave a lot to that organization and they gave a lot to me. I’m going to
do the same thing here in a good way, be myself and be Mac. Learn from Trevor [QB Trevor Lawrence]
and C.J. [QB C.J. Beathard] and the coaches here that have a lot of offensive background, that’ll be
important for me and that’s a big reason why I felt like this was a good fit.”
(On what he likes most about being home) “Honestly, I haven’t spent as much time back here as I would
like, so it feels good to be back and just going to Alabama, you get drafted up to the northeast, it’s a
quick turnaround. You know how it is, and from there, life goes fast. It feels good to be back, obviously
my parents live here and I went to Bolles and all of that. I have a lot of friends around the area, but my
main focus is always going to be football. It just feels good, my grandma is here, she’s never been to a
game so maybe we’ll get here to a Jacksonville game to watch me, and I think that’ll be awesome. You
never know what happens, so it’s kind of full circle.”
(On if he’s looking at joining this team as a relaunch) “Yeah, I think I always say to be where my feet are
and this is a great opportunity for me to learn from Coach Pederson [Head Coach Doug Pederson] and
the staff he’s assembled here a few years ago, Trevor [QB Trevor Lawrence] and C.J. [QB C.J. Beathard]
and guys that have played a lot of football and played really well. I’m going to do everything I can just to
get the train back on the tracks and get it moving in the right direction.”
(On if there’s a relationship between him and QB Trevor Lawrence) “Yeah, for sure. I’ve known Trevor for
a little bit of time here since high school. We have a few mutual friends and stuff. I’ve always kept up
with him, I have a lot of respect for his game and I’m here just to learn from him, like I said. He’s the
captain and he’s a great player, he’s done a lot of good things here and really, I just want to win.”
(On if he knew anything about Head Coach Doug Pederson before the trade) “Yeah, of course.
Philadelphia and everything, I heard a lot of good things about him and once again, there’s some mutual
connections there whether that be where he played college football and things like that. There’s a lot of
cool things there and I think he’s a great coach. His track record is great, he understands the game
because he’s held the ball before, he’s been back there and been on the ground looking up at the sky. He
knows and that’s something Trevor [QB Trevor Lawrence] probably appreciates, is having a guy like that
to be able to tell him and see the game how we see the game as quarterbacks. It sounds like everybody
works together here and that was something that was encouraging to hear, it’s a team effort and
everyone is trying to win games.”
(On his confidence and if he views himself as a starting quarterback) “Yeah, that’s a great point. It’s
about confidence, it’s about putting in the work and doing everything right that you can. I feel like I did
that and I’m going to continue to do that. The results may have been there some days and may not have
been there the others. But I think the important part for me is sticking to that process like I’ve always
done and just trying to get back to that. At the same time, just knowing my role, knowing where I’m at,
understanding that this is a great spot for me in my hometown.”
(On if there’s any added pressure by being in his hometown) “No, if anything it’s less. It feels good, it’s all
good. I feel like they’re building a good thing here. I’m just going to come in and try to work and improve
myself, and then be a great teammate, put the team first, all of those things.”
(On if he has any specific memories when playing at Bolles) “Yeah, I remember when we beat Raines like
60-20 maybe in the playoff game. That was great because they had our number for a little bit. I have a lot
of respect and still talk to some of those guys that were on those teams and obviously my head coach,
Corky Rogers, is a legend around here and rest his soul. I learned a lot from him and those are just great
times. High school football, there’s nothing better.”
(On a unique experience by living in his hometown) “I do know the area good, I don’t think I’ll be staying
with my parents though. Maybe, we’ll see. My mom is coming to pick me up in about 30 minutes. It’s
kind of nice when your mom can pick you up from work. It’ll be good, I think I’m just looking forward to
meeting the guys and everyone, they’re all new here. It sounds like Gabe [WR Gabe Davis] is from not far
down the road, so that’s cool. There’s some Florida ties here and there, so it’s a great state and a great
city to be in.”
(On if he was able to absorb everything from the past few years recently) “I think everything goes pretty
quick. You’re in college, then you get drafted, then you’re playing in games. For me, it’s all about the
evaluation process after the season, what can I get better at? How can I improve? I feel like I did that this
year already and went down to Texas and stayed in sports barn for a month and just focused on football,
all football. What can I do better every day, five days a week, weekends, all of that. How can I watch
tape, what can I do better and that’s important to me as it is with any player. They’re trying to find what
they can do better so that’s what I do every year.”
