JAGUARS CELEBRATE WALK TO SCHOOL DAY
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On Tuesday, Oct. 5, the Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off an early celebration of Walk to School Day presented by Alert Today Florida at Biscayne Elementary School with a program designed to promote child health and safety. The official holiday is celebrated worldwide on October 6. Media can click here to access b-roll and interviews from the program for editorial use.
Jaxson de Ville and members of THE ROAR of the Jaguars got an early morning start, meeting neighborhood kids and walking them to school along the sidewalk. After arriving at school, around 300 students ranging in age from kindergarten to second grade joined in a virtual conversation with Jaguars OL Ben Bartch. He talked to the students about pedestrian safety tips and answered questions from every classroom.
“The biggest thing is being alert and being aware,” Bartch said in a virtual presentation to the students. ”Remember when you are walking to and from school, travel in pairs and if you are riding a bike, always wear a helmet to protect you and those around you.”
Alert Today Florida and the Jaguars partner annually on a variety of initiatives to promote pedestrian and bicycle safety. In addition to celebrations of both Walk and Bike to School Days, Alert Today supports game day bike valet for cyclists who ride to TIAA Bank Field as well as the longstanding Honor Rows program which hosts thousands of children at Jaguars games each season.
