JAGUARS END THE WEST COAST STREAK: Today’s victory marked the Jaguars’ first win on the West Coast since defeating Oakland, 13-6, on Jan. 2, 2005. According to ESPN Stats and Information, the Jaguars had lost 23 straight games when trailing by double digits in the fourth quarter prior to today’s victory. In the fourth quarter, QB Gardner Minshew II completed 10 of 13 passes for 83 yards and two TDs, both to WR Chris Conley. Today marked the second time in Conley’s career that he caught multiple TD passes, and he now improves to 5-0 all-time when facing the Raiders.
MINSHEW ORCHESTRATES THE COMEBACK: Rookie QB Gardner Minshew IIcompleted 17 of 29 passes for 201 yards and two TDs, including the go-ahead 4-yard TD pass to WR Chris Conley with 1:13 remaining. In five career road games, Minshew has completed 100 of 171 passes for 1,256 yards, eight TDs and zero INTs for a passer rating of 97.0 (3-2 record). Minshew is now 5-5 as the team’s starting QB.
FOURNETTE SETS NEW CAREER-HIGH FOR RUSHING YARDS: Third-year RB Leonard Fournette totaled 73 scrimmage yards (42 rushing, 31 receiving) and has now posted a career-high for rushing yards in a single season with 1,081.Fournette is the only Jaguars player over the last eight seasons to post at least 1,500 scrimmage yards in a single season. He also joins former RB Fred Taylor as the only players in franchise history to post at least 3,500 scrimmage yards through their first 35 career games. Fournette is the second player this season, along with Carolina RB Christian McCaffrey, to post at least 1,000 rushing yards and 70 receptions.
LAMBO LEGEND: Following a seven-play, 65-yard opening offensive drive, KJosh Lambo kicked a 28-yard FG, and he added a second FG with a 43-yarder in the third quarter. In 2019, Lambo has now made 28 of 29 FGs this season. Lambo’s 96.6 FG pct. is the highest in the NFL this season among kickers with at least five FG attempts. Since signing with the Jaguars on Oct. 17, 2017, Lambo has made 66 of 70 FG attempts, and his 94.3 FG pct. is the highest in franchise history and the highest by any player in the NFL since 2017 (min. 10 FGA).
ALLEN GETS TO DOUBLE DIGITS: In the second quarter, rookie DE Josh Allen posted his 10th sack of the season, extending his franchise rookie record. Allenjoins DE Yannick Ngakoue as the only Jaguars players 22-or-younger to register double-digit sacks in a single season. He also joins Bradley Chubb (2018) and Myles Garrett (2017—18) as the only players over the last eight seasons to post double-digit sacks and multiple forced fumbles through a player’s first 14 career games. Allen’s 10.0 sacks this season lead all rookies, and he’s the sixth rookie in the NFL since 2010 to post double-digit sacks, joining Ndamukong Suh (2010), Aldon Smith (2011), Von Miller (2011), Joey Bosa (2016) and Bradley Chubb(2018).
YANNICK N-SACK-OUE: DE Yannick Ngakoue posted his eighth career game with 2.0-plus sacks, tied with Tony Brackens for the most in franchise history.Ngakoue has now posted 37.5 career sacks, the most through four seasons in franchise history.
COOKE WITH THE KICKS: In the third quarter, P Logan Cooke booted a season-long 66-yard punt, which was downed at the Raiders 3-yard line. Cooke punted five times today and posted a net punting average of 49.2 net yards per punt. Among players with at least 10 punts, Cooke leads the NFL with a 44.2-yard net punting avg. Last season, Cooke set the Jaguars’ single-season record with a 41.3-yard net punting avg.
