MIAMI (September 2, 2022) – Inter Miami CF announced today the club’s initiatives to support Major League Soccer’s Kick Childhood Cancer campaign in an effort to raise awareness of pediatric cancers and fundraise for childhood cancer research in the month of September.
In 2022, the Kick Childhood Cancer (KCC) campaign will again benefit Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research, uniting more than 10,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children’s hospitals around the world. The Kick Childhood Cancer campaign has enabled COG to strengthen research efforts across the entire spectrum of pediatric cancers, including Project: EveryChild – a unique project aiming to capture the biology and outcome data of every child diagnosed with cancer.
Raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer remains crucial because the cost of a single enrollment into a clinical trial such as Project: EveryChild can approach $10,000 per patient. According to COG, the League’s Kick Childhood Cancer campaign has helped to offset the costs of more than 40,000 clinical trial enrollments to-date, with nearly 44,000 expected to be enrolled by the end of 2022.
Kick Childhood Cancer Night presented by Baptist Health Cancer Care
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, Inter Miami will host the Columbus Crew in the club’s Kick Childhood Cancer Night presented by Baptist Health Cancer Care. The match will feature the following:
- A commemorative Kick Childhood Cancer edition MLS 2022 Official Match Ball by adidas to be used in the match
- Kick Childhood Cancer adidas Pre-Match Jerseys will be worn by players during pregame and warmups on game day as well as on the bench, side lines and during training and in community outreach efforts

Celebrating Jeronimo
Inter Miami will be celebrating Jeronimo this Kick Childhood Cancer Night. Jeronimo is a 10-year-old Inter Miami fan who was diagnosed with stage 3 medulloblastoma in 2020. After finishing his chemotherapy treatment in June 2022, Jeronimo is currently recovering well from his treatment. Inter Miami have invited Jeronimo and his family to attend the home game against Columbus Crew on Sept. 13 as guests of honor. Inter Miami first met Jeronimo and his family back in Sept. 2020, when club representatives visited Jeronimo at Baptist Health South Florida to gift him a goody bag and a team jersey. Earlier this year, Jeronimo was able to attend his first Inter Miami home game when the team earned a 2-1 win over Atlanta United on April 24.
On Kick Childhood Cancer Night in 2021 Inter Miami honored fan Patricio Ojeda. Patricio was a 15-year-old Inter Miami fan who in 2021 had been given a short time to live following a two-year battle with neuroblastoma. Earlier in the year, Inter Miami had been to fulfill a final wish for the 15-year-old Inter Miami fan after he was given a short time to live following a two-year battle with neuroblastoma. On July 9, 2021, the club fulfilled a final wish for Patricio and gave him a day to remember, as he was signed as an official player for the day and had the opportunity to meet his favorite players, who organized an intrasquad scrimmage in his honor and made him captain for the day. Sadly, Patricio lost his battle on July 31, 2021. A commemorative framed jersey of Patricio was placed at DRV PNK Stadium to ensure he will always be a part of the club. The framed jersey was presented by the team at DRV PNK Stadium during pregame ahead of facing the New York Red Bulls in Kick Childhood Cancer Night on Sept. 17, 2021.
National Anthem
Alexandra Herrera, teenager, and South Florida native currently battling a recurrence of rhabdomyosarcoma, will be accompanied by the Lourdes Singers from her high school, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami, to perform the National Anthem prior to the start of the match.
Appreciating the Heroes – Dr. Doured Daghistani
Inter Miami and Baptist Health Cancer Care selected an oncology physician that will be honored in a jersey swap with Inter Miami players that is set to take place on the pitch at DRV PNK Stadium on Kick Childhood Cancer Night on Sept. 13. Doured Daghistani, M.D., medical director of pediatric oncology at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, will be honored in the jersey swap.
Players to Distribute Gifts for the Children Receiving Treatment at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute
Additionally, Inter Miami and the Inter Miami FC Foundation will partner with Baptist Health Cancer Care to deliver toys and co-branded Inter Miami and MLS Works comfort items to the children receiving treatment. Inter Miami players will be delivering the gifts to pediatric cancer patients on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute.
The gifts for the kids will include comfortable co-branded KCC pajamas, brand new toys, coloring books, puzzles, and Inter Miami CF swag.
Continental Tire KCC Challenge – Inter Miami CF Fan Donations
Through MLS Works and league partner Continental Tire, fans will have the opportunity to get directly involved this year by contributing donations through a league-wide effort this Sept. called the “Continental Tire KCC Challenge”. Through an online donation site – run by Tiltify – fans can donate directly on behalf of their favorite club to the specific non-profit organizations they selected to work with during KCC. Inter Miami CF will have all proceeds raised go to the Inter Miami CF Foundation and the funds will be donated 100% to Childhood Cancer relief and research. Inter Miami celebrará a Jeronimo en la Noche ‘Kick Childhood Night’. Jeronimo es un aficionado de Inter Miami de 10 años que fue diagnosticado con meduloblastoma en etapa 3 en el 2020. Después de terminar su tratamiento de quimioterapia, Jeronimo se está recuperando bien de su tratamiento. Inter Miami ha invitado a Jeronimo y a su familia para que asistan como invitados de honor al partido en casa contra el Columbus Crew el 13 de septiembre. Inter Miami conoció a Jeronimo y a su familia en septiembre del 2020, cuando representantes del club visitaron a Jeronimo en Baptist Health South Florida para obsequiarle una bolsa con distintos artículos y una camiseta del equipo. Más temprano este año, Jeronimo pudo asistir a su primer partido de Inter Miami de local cuando el equipo se impuso por 2-1 ante el Atlanta United el 24 de abril.
Para la Noche ‘Kick Childhood Cancer’ en el 2021 Inter Miami honró al aficionado Patricio Ojeda. Patricio era un aficionado de Inter Miami de 15 años al que se le dio poco tiempo de vida en el 2021 luego de dos años batallando con el neuroblastoma. Tristemente, Patricio perdió su batalla el 31 de julio del 2021. Una camiseta conmemorativa de Patricio enmarcada fue colocada en el DRV PNK Stadium para garantizar que él siempre forme parte del club. La camiseta enmarcada fue presentada por el equipo en el DRV PNK Stadium previo al inicio del partido contra el New York Bulls en la Noche ‘Kick Childhood Cancer’ el 17 de septiembre del 2021.
