POMPANO BEACH, FL (May 7, 2024) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward proudly announces the success of its recent CEO Build event, showcasing the commitment of local business leaders to affordable homeownership solutions. Broward County’s top CEOs and C-suite leaders from many of South Florida’s largest companies came together to empower communities and address the critical local need for housing during Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s 5th annual CEO Build on Saturday, April 20 at “A Rick Case Habitat Community” in Pompano Beach.
Event co-chairs Brent Burns, CEO of JM Family Enterprises, Inc. and Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture, led the task force to support affordable workforce homeownership in Broward County, the most cost-burdened housing market in the country.
“The need for affordable workforce housing across Broward County has never been greater. Hardworking families earning good salaries can’t afford to live in Broward. Together with co-chair Keith Koenig and our fellow business leaders, it was an honor to raise funds and awareness to help Habitat continue to address the affordable housing crisis,” said Brent Burns, CEO, JM Family Enterprises, Inc.
During the event, participants rolled up their sleeves and worked side by side with Habitat Broward future homeowners, staff, and volunteers, demonstrating their shared commitment to creating lasting change in the community. Together, they embodied the spirit of partnership and collective action.
“The CEO Build is a great day where South Florida’s top leaders get together to donate their time, talent and treasure so Habitat for Humanity families get closer to their dream of home ownership,” said Keith Koenig, Chairman, CITY Furniture. “When you see the excitement and joy of the families getting their new home and realizing the impact we can make, it is quite inspiring. We all make a living with what we get, but we make our life by what we give.”
The CEO Build not only advances Habitat Broward’s mission of providing attainable homeownership but also fosters meaningful connections between business leaders and the community they serve. Through hands-on engagement and shared experiences, participants gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by low-income families and the power of collaboration in creating long-lasting impact.
“We are thrilled with the success of our CEO Build event and deeply grateful to all the CEOs and executives who joined us in this important initiative,” said Nancy Robin, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Broward. “Their leadership and dedication have made a significant impact on the lives of local families, providing them with the opportunity for a brighter and more sustainable future.”
This year’s event was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship from JM Family Enterprises Inc., CITY Furniture, WSVN – Channel 7, South Florida Business Journal and Exquisite Catering by Robert.
