The Green Bay Packers won the toss on Thanksgiving, and decided to receive the kick off. Proved to be a good decision. They dove right down the field on the arm of Jordan Love. As I have stated on my podcast. He’s a young QB with a strong arm, he delivered some strikes downfield, and didn’t miss his receivers often at all.
Our defense looked like the were manhandled by the injury riddled Oline of Green Bay. Packers score right away. Sets the tone for the game.
The Lions first possession the Lions score right away. But miss the extra point. 7-6.
That was about the only time through 2 and a half quarters the score would be.
The offensive line allowed Goff to be under pressure the entire game. Which also lead to 3 uncharacteristic fumbles. Another 3 turnover game happened this week. This is not conducive to a good football.
Dan ‘The Gambler’ Campbell continued to put the defense in a bad position by pushing for 4th down conversions. The Packers allowed one to work. 4 times it failed. Packers scored 20 points in the first half due to a missed extra point. Lions would not score again the first half. The Packers still managed to add an FG. 23-6.
The Lions never could get it together. Green Bay scored another TD went for 2 point conversion and failed. Lions scored 2 2nd half TDs and was successful with converting 2 2 point conversions of their own. Last one with 44 seconds left.
The onside kick fails and the Packers take the victory formation. 29-22 they won.
Whether it was the short week. Or playing a total of 3 games in 10 days. Something was off. The Oline protection, horrible. The pressure was almost non-existent on the Packers QB.
Where the Lions did improve was on 3rd down for a 3rd consecutive week. They were 7 of 15. They threw for a total if 17 1st downs, and rushed for 6 more. Two by way of penalty.
Overall this was a very hard pill to swallow even though the Lions are an 8 win team. They kind of played like the Lions of the past. They have a lot to clean up.
