GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida placed 137 student-athletes on the 2023 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, announced Thursday by league commissioner Greg Sankey.
The 2023 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2023 spring, summer and fall terms.
The SEC champion Gators women’s cross country team placed 14 on the list, including SEC and NCAA champion junior Parker Valby.
Florida’s football team reset its league record with 75 on the 2023 list. This is the third time since 2020 Gators raised the league’s record for football honorees. Last year, UF placed 62 honorees on the list, erasing its record of 55 set in 2020.
Gator volleyball placed a program record 13 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll, resetting previous high of 11 posted in fall of 2017.
Men’s cross country placed a league-leading 15 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Florida’s soccer team saw 20 earning a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Four earned 4.0 grade point averages – Orlando Cicilioni (cross country), Tori Grambo (soccer), Jonathan Pitchford (cross country) and Breanna Stuart (cross country)
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
