Florida Men’s Tennis splits another doubleheader weekend at 1-1 with a 4-2 loss to No. 7 LSU and a 7-0 win over Presbyterian College.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators Senior Day doubleheader ended with a 1-1 record, with a win over Presbyterian College and a loss to No. 7 LSU. LSU who ranks at No. 7 in the country defeated the Gators 4-2 in the first match of the day, but the Gators rebounded with a clean 7-0 shutout over Presbyterian College to finish the day.
The day started with LSU taking the doubles point over the Gators with wins on courts one and two. Court three went to the Gators with a 6-3 win by Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini who are now 13-4 this season with a 7-4 conference record. Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn on court one and Adhithya Ganesan and Pablo Perez Ramos on court two were not able to add to the Gators score after falling 6-4 each.
In singles, Ganesan was the first to fall, dropping court one to No. 27 ranked Erik Arutiunian in two sets. The Gators were able to tie up the match at 2-2 with a 6-2, 7-5 win from Ramos on court five against LSU’s Sasa Markovic and a 6-2, 6-4 win from Jeremy Jin on court three against Alessio Vasquez. Unfortunately, those were the only two points the Gators would get against the Tigers with LSU finishing the match with a win over Edengren on court six and a win over Lorenzo Claverie on court two, sealing the 4-2 victory for the Tigers.
Following their match against LSU, Florida turned their attention to Presbyterian College. In doubles, both courts one and three saw a first-time partnership this season with Jefferson and Ramos on court one and Claverie and Jin on court two. These pairings sealed the doubles point for the Gators, with Claverie and Jin taking a 6-1 victory, and Jefferson/Ramos taking a 7-5 win.
In singles against Presbyterian College, the Gators did not drop a single court. Edengren closed out first on court four 6-0, 6-3 and was quickly followed by Francesco Cordova who earned his second victory of the season with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court six. Jefferson also won in straight sets on court two, clinching the victory for the Gators at 4-0. The teams played out the rest of the matches, which resulted in a 6-3, 7-6(7-2) win for Ganesan on court one. Ramos on court three and Timini on court five both played three sets against their competition, but resulted in a victory for both to finalize the score at 7-0.

Florida will face the Longhorns on Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m. EST and will take on the Razorbacks on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. EST.
