Rising sophomore Leanne Wong and incoming freshman Kayla DiCello compete this weekend at the OOFOSA USA Gymnastics Championships
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A duo of Gators – rising Gator sophomore Leanne Wong and incoming freshman Kayla DiCello – competes this weekend in the OOFOSA USA Gymnastics Championships in Tampa’s Amalie Arena<https://www.amaliearena.com/>.
Both compete in the senior division on Friday and Sunday:
* Friday, August 19: 7 p.m. ET
* Sunday, August 21: 7 p.m. ET
2021 World Championships silver (Wong) and bronze (DiCello) all-around medalists join the nation’s top artistic gymnasts in the culmination event of the domestic season. All champions based on a combined two-day total. The USA Gymnastics women’s national team will be announced following Sunday’s competition.

Rare Single Season Double: NCAA – U.S. Championships
Of the 235 different gymnasts to compete at a U.S. Championships since 2000, Wong is among nine to appear after competing earlier that year at the NCAA Championships. There are three completing the NCAA-USA Championships single season combo in 2022 – Wong, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey.

After her outstanding freshman season in 2022, Wong won the 2023 U.S. Classic all-around<https://floridagators.com/news/2022/7/30/gymnastics-gator-leanne-wong-wins-us-classic-all-around.aspx> last month in her first return to elite competition since claiming silver in 2021 World Championships’ all-around. Wong has been a member of the U.S. Senior National team since 2018-19. Traveled to Tokyo as a replacement athlete for 2020 Olympic team.
