Gators No. 2 in 2024 WCGA Preseason Poll
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The same two programs topping the 2023 NCAA Championships team final hold those same positions in the 2024 Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) preseason poll.
Defending NCAA champion Oklahoma leads the preseason poll, followed by Florida. Rounding out the top five are No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 UCLA.
The nation’s preseason top five has included the Gators every season since 2007 (2007: 3rd; 2008: 2nd; 2009: 3rd; 2010: 4th; 2011: 3rd; 2012: 3rd, 2013: 3rd; 2014: 1st, 2015: 1st, 2016: 2nd, 2017: 5th; 2018: 2nd; 2019: 3rd, 2020: 3rd; 2021: 1st; 2022: 2nd; 2023: 2nd; 2024: 2nd).
“We are excited to get the 2024 season started. It will be great to be back in the packed arenas with the crowds cheering these amazing gymnasts,” Florida Head Gymnastics Coach Jenny Rowland said. “Should be a fun season!”
Seven consecutive meets versus preseason top-20 opponents starts for Gators on Jan. 19 at No. 17 Auburn. The Stephen C. O’Connell Center is the site for a pair of top-10 duals.
* Jan. 26 vs. No. 8 Alabama
* Feb. 9 vs. No. 15 Arkansas
* Feb. 23 vs. No. 3 LSU
Florida’s road schedule includes five dates at preseason top-20 teams:
* Jan. 19 at No. 17 Auburn
* Feb. 2 at No. 16 Georgia
* Feb. 16 at No. 12 Missouri
* March 1 at No. 9 Kentucky
