Fans are welcomed at TIAA Bank Field this Saturday, Aug. 20 as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Pittsburgh Steelers in their final appearance at TIAA Bank Field before the start of the regular season. The Jaguars will return to The Bank on Sunday, Sept. 18 to take on the Indianapolis Colts in the team’s home regular season opener.
Leading into the team’s home preseason finale, Head Coach Doug Pederson said, “From a playing standpoint, I definitely want to see the starters go into the second quarter again this week. They’ve played well the first two games, so I definitely want to see them play a little bit more.”
Saturday’s matchup against Pittsburgh kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast regionally on FOX30, on radio on WJXL (1010AM, 92.5 FM) and in Spanish on 930AM/97.3FM via Accion. This week’s game is presented by Pet Paradise.
NATIONAL ANTHEM & COLOR GUARD
The Star-Spangled Banner will be performed by the Honors Chorale from the Episcopal School of Jacksonville. With the ongoing construction of the Miller Electric Center, the Jaguars held training camp practices at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville’s Knight Campus this year. Head Coach Doug Pederson thanked the school before the team’s final training camp practice this week: “My hat’s off to Episcopal for letting us come out here and invade their space a little bit. I just can’t say enough good things about this situation. The guys have really enjoyed it, getting away from our building a little bit and outside. It’s been really good, and we’ve been really fortunate to have this,” Pederson said.
The colors will be presented by members of The Blue Devil Battalion from Holmes County High School JROTC program.
FAN ENTERTAINMENT ZONE
Fans will have the opportunity to get autographs from several Jaguars legends in the Fan Entertainment Zone located in the south plaza of the stadium. Former Jaguars players scheduled to sign autographs include Donovin Darius and Leon Searcy along with several other former Jaguars players. The Fan Entertainment Zone opens at 4 p.m., three hours prior to kickoff.
FIRST DUUUVAL
The First Duval will be delivered by Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Executive Director Craig Damon. This past April, Damon was elected as the 11th executive director and first African American to hold the position in the organization’s history. Damon has worked nearly three decades in interscholastic athletics and had been an FHSAA staff member since 2013 before being elected executive director.
JAGUARS CELEBRATE PLAY FOOTBALL MONTH
For the entire month of August, the Jaguars will celebrate Play Football Month, an NFL-wide recognition of youth and high school football athletes, by providing 7,000 free tickets, camps and unique recognition opportunities to kids across the area. During pregame and halftime of Saturday’s game, the Jaguars will recognize several youth football organizations in the area. Eighty girls flag football athletes will be holding the field flag during the national anthem. In addition, more than 225 female flag athletes and coaches will be on the field in the south endzone to witness Jaguars team introduction prior to the start of the game. During halftime, the Fleming Island Athletic Association 8U Pop Warner Team will play an exhibition football game against Jaxson De Ville and seven of his mascot friends. Also at halftime, the Jaguars will recognize the Florida Times Union SUPER 11 high school team representing the 11 best high school football players in the area for the 2022 season.
