Full Fields Return in 2025 to WeatherTech Championship, Michelin Endurance Cup

Full-Season Entries Revealed for the 2025 Season at State of the Sport
BRASELTON, Ga. (October 10, 2024) – Paddocks and racetracks across North America will be flush with IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race cars throughout 2025 as IMSA President John Doonan today revealed the full-season entry list for both the WeatherTech Championship and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup as part of the annual State of the Sport presentation at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
A total of 48 entries have been confirmed for the full WeatherTech Championship season, with 55 entries slated to compete in the five Michelin Endurance Cup rounds. In addition, January’s season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona is expected to have a field in excess of 60 cars when the entry list for that event is revealed in early December.
“The golden era of IMSA sports car racing is right now as evidenced by yet another incredibly strong and competitive entry list for the 2025 WeatherTech Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup season,” said Doonan. “Our top GTP category keeps growing, while we continue to see strong representation across the LMP2, GTD PRO and GTD classes. We are immensely proud of the teams for confirming their plans so soon and grateful to all of our stakeholders for continuing to provide IMSA fans with the best sports car racing anywhere.”
A breakdown of entries per class is as follows:
Grand Touring Prototype (GTP)
IMSA’s top category sees an uptick for the third consecutive year with a total of 11 full-season entries and two additional teams committed for the Michelin Endurance Cup events.
Porsche Penske Motorsport, Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R, BMW M Team RLL and the returning Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/ Curb Agajanian will be back with two entries apiece. Single, full-season entries are planned from Whelen Cadillac Racing, JDC-Miller MotorSports and the Heart of Racing Team. Proton Competition and Lamborghini Iron Lynx are in for the Michelin Endurance Cup events.
Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2)
The LMP2 class also sees another increase in 2025 with all 12 of the entries in the class committed for the full WeatherTech Championship season.
United Autosports USA returns with the lone two-car entry in LMP2. Single entries are lined up for Algarve Pro Racing, Tower Motorsports, TDS Racing, Inter Europol Competition, Era Motorsport, PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports, Riley, AO Racing, Pratt Miller Motorsports and Af Corse.
Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO)
Paul Miller Racing will expand from one to two GTD PRO cars in 2025 alongside established two-car programs from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports and Ford Multimatic Motorsports. Pfaff Motorsports, Vasser Sullivan Racing and AO Racing also return with single-car efforts for the full WeatherTech Championship slate.
Automobili Lamborghini will have a single-car effort for the Michelin Endurance Cup events. Additional GTD PRO entries are expected for the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Grand Touring Daytona (GTD)
The WeatherTech Championship’s longtime most populous class remains that way in 2025. Full-season, one-car programs are planned for AWA, Conquest Racing, series newcomer DXDT Racing, Forte Racing, Gradient Racing, Inception Racing, Korthoff Competition Motors, Turner Motorsport, van der Steur Racing (which is stepping up from the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge), Vasser Sullivan Racing, Wayne Taylor Racing, Winward Racing, Wright Motorsports, DragonSpeed, Heart of Racing Team and Triarsi Competizione.
Additional Michelin Endurance Cup teams will include Af Corse with a pair of entries, Triarsi Competizione, Iron Dames and Lone Star Racing. GTD also is expected to include additional Rolex 24-only entries.
