Fort Lauderdale Police Chief is fired after six months on the job following discrimination complaints

Fort Lauderdale City leaders fired Police Chief Larry Scirotto after about six months on the job as chief. Chris Lagerbloom, the city manager announced the firing on March 3. Lagerbloom released a statement saying that following an investigation it was in the city’s best interest to separate employment. There were complaints of discrimination.

The investigation was conducted by an outside attorney Gregg Rossman and supported complaints that Scirotto made presentations based on race, gender and sexual orientation. There was a minority-first agenda.
