Fort Lauderdale Commission receives update on Street Lighting Master Plan

During a recent Fort Lauderdale Commission meeting, staff from Kimley-Horn presented an update on the City’s proposed Street Lighting Master Plan that aims to establish light level standards, standardize light assembly styles, increase energy efficiency, and improve safety for all street users. These goals were identified based on public input and coordination with multiple City departments. The master plan aims to provide guidance for future development and includes thirteen pilot location recommendations that were selected based on crime and traffic data.

“This is an important Master Plan that must be implemented in partnership with FP&L. Too many lights in our city are not always functioning properly. In addition, I am looking forward to the improved lighting on AIA including in that that road’s Streetscape Project, which will include improved lighting and still be turtle-complaint,” said Commissioner Steve Glassman.
