The distance swimmer from Tunisia joins the men’s program for the 2025-26 season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida Swimming & Diving program announced on Friday the addition of Tunisian distance freestyle Ahmed Jaouadi, who will join the Gators for the 2025–26 season.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ahmed to the Gator family and look forward to supporting him as he takes the next big step here in Gainesville,” said Florida’s Head Coach Anthony Nesty.
From Tunis, Tunisia, Jaouadi captured gold medals in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, marking his first major long-course world titles. His winning time of 7:36.88 in the 800m ranks as the third-fastest time ever recorded in the event.
In addition, he represented Tunisia at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, advancing to finals in both the 800m and 1500m events.
Jaouadi becomes the ninth newcomer to join Florida since the program announced its initial signees last November.
