Florida sees population increase

Florida’s population grew by 211,196 residents from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021 to a population of 21,781,128, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Texas grew by 310,288 residents to a population of 29,527,941.

Florida had the largest net migration gains in the nation, a measurement of people moving in and out of the state. However, it had the biggest natural decrease in population. This means comparing numbers of births and deaths.

Areas of the nation like Florida and Texas saw large population increases. However the nation’s growth rate was 0.1 percent, the lowest growth rate ever. The Census said this is because of a combination of factors including COVID-19 deaths.
