SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has signed goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick to a one-year, two-way contract. Fitzpatrick has been assigned to Florida’s Taxi Squad.
Fitzpatrick, 23, has appeared in 10 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) in 2021-22, owning a .911 save percentage and a 2.54 goals against average. He also appeared in one game with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL), posting 25 saves to earn a victory at Lehigh Valley on Dec. 3.
The 6-foot-3, 206-pound native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, has registered a .906 save percentage, 2.44 goals against average and a 5-3-1 record over 12 career American Hockey League games with Charlotte (2021-22), the Utica Comets (2020-21) and the San Antonio Rampage (2018-19).
Prior to his professional career, Fitzpatrick won the 2018 Memorial Cup and QMJHL President’s Cup with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, posting a .925 save percentage, 2.10 goals against average and a 16-4-0 record over 20 playoff games. He was also named to the 2014-15 QMJHL All-Rookie team after recording a 13-11-3 record over 32 appearances with the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Fitzpatrick was originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in the second round (59th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
