SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers Foundation announced today that the club will hold a ‘Territory Trot Virtual 5K’ presented by Baptist Health South Florida to support relief efforts for those impacted by COVID-19.

The cost to participate in the ‘Territory Trot Virtual 5K’ is $10 with all proceeds going to the Florida Panthers Foundation’s COVID-19 relief efforts. During registration, participants will have the opportunity to donate any additional monetary amount to the cause. Registration and full details can be found here.

Participants can run the 5K around their homes, yards or neighborhoods between April 17-20, 2020.

“As our Panthers community exercises best practices in social distancing and isolation, we sought ways to continue to engage fans in our passion for competition, continue our pledge to encourage physical fitness in our territory and support local COVID-19 efforts,” said Florida Panthers Senior Vice President Shawn Thornton. “Through this Virtual 5k our team has carefully designed an opportunity for our Panthers family, to gather in a digital medium built upon fitness, charity and a sense of community.”

“We’re thrilled to join the Panthers on this important initiative of staying active and healthy from the safety and isolation of our houses and communities,” said Dr. Gautam P. Yagnik, Orthopedic Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery at Baptist Health South Florida. “Exercise improves our physical and mental well-being which in turn will help our productivity as we adapt to working from home and teaching our children from home.”

Participants are encouraged to download the Adidas Run Mobile Application at https://www.runtastic.com/ or any fitness tracking mobile app to track their run times and activity.

Fans are encouraged to share videos of their run and screenshots of their times posted with #TerritoryTrot. FloridaPanthers.com and Florida Panthers social media channels will re-share these documentations of the virtual event.

Participants are asked to follow these safety guidelines:

  • Practice social distance while running.
  • Avoid using public water fountains, restrooms, and touching cross walk buttons.
  • Stay home if you are not feeling well.
