Florida Panthers Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month With Excellence Series

Panthers ‘Celebration of Hispanic Excellence’ Program Will Honor South Florida Community Members Making a Difference

SUNRISE, Fla. – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Florida Panthers today announced the launch of ‘Celebration of Hispanic Excellence’ recognizing South Florida community members making a difference.    

From Hispanic business owners and educators to creators, healthcare workers, media members, activists and more, the Panthers ‘Celebration of Hispanic Excellence’ program will recognize individuals nominated by their peers, colleagues and families for the positive impact they are making in South Florida and beyond.   

Honorees’ stories and achievements will be highlighted continuously throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 – Oct.  15, digitally at FloridaPanthers.com and via Panthers social media platforms @FlaPanthers and @FlaPanthersCARE.   

Later in the season, ‘Hispanic Excellence’ honorees will be recognized during the team’s annual ¡Vamos Gatos!   • Gloria Fernandez-Banks, Chief Operating Officer, HB Capital & Trustee, Broward College Board of Trustees 
  • Monica Llerena, Principal / CCO, CBT Technology Institute  
  • Madeline Pumariega, President, Miami Dade College 
  • Judy Rodriguez, Vice Principal, William H. Turner Technical Arts Adult Education Center 
  • Dr. Nanette Vega, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, Community Engagement & Assistant Professor, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine 

Additionally, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Florida Panthers Foundation will release a limited-edition ‘Panteras’ t-shirt, available for purchase at FlaPanthers.givesmart.com starting Sept. 15, while supplies last. All proceeds will benefit the Florida Panthers Foundation.  

Fans can also celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by attending the fourth annual 2022 Amerigol LATAM Cup—the premier hockey tournament for Latin American and Caribbean teams aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion in the sport—which returns to the Florida Panthers IceDen on Wednesday, Sept. 14th for what will be its biggest tournament to date.   

The five-day LATAM Cup tournament, which runs through Sunday, September 18 and is free and open to the public, will feature 44 teams and 750 players from 21 countries—including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Venezuela, and more—competing across six men’s, women’s, and youth hockey divisions.  For more information, please visit AmerigolHockey.com.
