SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Radko Gudas on a three-year contract.
“Radko plays an imposing, defensive game,” said Zito. “He is a hard-working defenseman who plays the game with an edge. Radko brings the type of physicality and tenacity to our group that we want as we add to our roster.”
Gudas, 30, appeared in 63 regular games with the Washington Capitals in 2019-20, recording 15 points (2-13-15) and played in five postseason games, posting two assists. The 6-foot, 205-pound native of Prague, Czech Republic, led all Washington defensemen during the regular season with 164 hits.
He has played in 479 career National Hockey League regular season games for Washington, the Philadelphia Flyers (2015-16 to 2018-19) and Tampa Bay Lightning (2012-13 to 2014-15), producing 120 points (26-94-120) and 619 PIM. Over 20 career playoff games he has registered three assists.
Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third round (66th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Gudas won the 2013 Calder Cup Championship with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was named a 2013 AHL All-Star and during the 2012-13 season, he led the league with a plus-32 rating.
On the international stage, Gudas played for the Czech Republic at the 2019, 2018 and 2017 IIHF World Championship and the 2010 and 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship. He represented his country at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.

“Carter is a dynamic forward who brings an up-tempo, creative game to our team,” said Zito. “He has excelled at every level in which he has competed and we are thrilled to add him to our lineup.”
Verhaeghe, 25, completed his first National Hockey League season appearing in 52 regular season games in 2019-20, with the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning, recording 13 points (9-4-13) and appeared in eight postseason games, notching two assists.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound native of Toronto, Ontario, spent the prior two seasons with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL), amassing 130 points (51-79-130) over 134 regular season games. In 2018-19, he led the AHL in goals (34) and points (82) and led Syracuse in assists (48). He was named to the AHL First All-Star Team and awarded the AHL’s Willie Marshall Award and the John B. Sollenger Trophy for most goals and points in the league, respectively.
Prior to his professional career, he spent four seasons (2011-12 to 2014-15) with the Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), producing 224 points (83-141-224) over 252 regular season games. He served as Niagara’s captain during the 2014-15 season and led the club in points in his final two seasons.
On the international stage, Verhaeghe won a Gold Medal with Canada at the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championship, notching four assists over seven tournament games.
Verhaeghe was originally selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.

“Ryan is a high-energy forward who doesn’t shy away from a physical game,” said Zito. “We are excited for what he can bring to our team.”
Lomberg, 25, has appeared in 11 National Hockey League games with the Calgary Flames (2017-18 to 2018-19), registering one assist and 32 PIM.
In 2019-20, Lomberg, recorded 20 points (11-9-20) over 21 regular season games with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League (AHL).
The 5-foot-9, 187-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, has played in 219 career AHL games all with Stockton (2015-16 to 2019-20), producing 109 points (49-60-109) and 365 PIM. In 2014-15, he played in 43 regular season games with the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL, posting 35 points (18-17-35) and notched six points (3-3-6) over 12 playoff games.
Undrafted, the University of Maine alum recorded 32 points (18-14-32) over 66 games (2012-13 to 2013-14). In 2014-15, played 46 games with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL), amassing 43 points (24-19-43) and 146 PIM.

“Alexander is a talented forward who plays the game with skill and vision,” said Zito. “His speed and offensive capability will be an excellent addition to the strength of our forward group.”
Wennberg, 26, appeared in 57 regular season games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, producing 22 points (5-17-22) and registered five points (3-2-5) over 10 playoff games.
The 6-foot-2, 197-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden has appeared in 415 career National Hockey League games, all with Columbus, recording 201 points (40-161-201). Over 22 career playoff games, Wennberg has posted eight points (4-4-8).
Prior to his career in North America, Wennberg played three professional seasons in Sweden (2011-12 to 2013-14). In 2013-14 with Frolunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), Wennberg notched 21 points (16-5-21), and scored the most goals among SHL juniors (16). He was named the 2013-14 Swedish Junior Hockey Player of the Year.
On the international stage, Wennberg won Silver Medals with Sweden at the 2013 and 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships and 2012 IIHF World U18 Championship. He has appeared in two IIHF World Championship tournaments with Sweden (2016, 2019). He amassed 10 points (3-7-10) over six games at the 2019 World Championship.
He was originally selected by Columbus in the first round (14th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Vinnie Hinostroza on a one-year contract.
“Vinnie is a competitive forward who plays a strong two-way game,” said Zito. “He is a versatile playmaker who brings a mix of skill, speed and energy to our team.”
Hinostroza, 26, appeared in 68 regular season games with the Arizona Coyotes in 2019-20, recording 22 points (5-17-22) and registered two assists over seven postseason games.
The 5-foot-9, 173-pound native of Chicago, Ill., has played in 246 career regular season National Hockey League games, producing 100 points (34-66-100) with Arizona (2018-19 to 2019-20) and the Chicago Blackhawks (2015-16 to 2017-18). He has appeared in eight career playoff games, notching two assists.
In 2018-19, Hinostroza, recorded a career-best 39 points (16-23-39) over 72 games with the Coyotes. During his time in the American Hockey League (AHL), he was named a 2018 AHL All-Star, while playing with the Rockford IceHogs.
On the international stage, Hinostroza has represented the United States at the 2016 IIHF World Championship and the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Prior to his professional career, he played two seasons (2013-14 to 2014-15) for the University of Notre Dame (Hockey East) amassing 76 points (19-57-76) in 76 games. He was named to the 2013-14 Hockey East All-Rookie Team and the 2014-15 Hockey East First All-Star Team.
Hinostroza played three seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL), recording 126 points (53-73-126) over 151 games before making the jump to the NCAA.
He was originally selected by Chicago in the sixth round (169th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
