FB | Shields-Dutton Honored

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic football team notched its second-consecutive victory last Saturday with a dominating 53-33 win over the visiting UAB. Along the way, redshirt sophomore RB Kaden Shields-Dutton earned an American Conference honorable mention recognition for his three-score effort, announced the league on Monday.
On Saturday, Shields-Dutton seized his opportunity. The squad was limiting one running back and holding another out, which gave Shields-Dutton an opportunity to shine. The Orlando native carried the ball 15 times, collected 77 yards, and tallied three touchdowns. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry, his longest a 16-yard run. His first score was a 13-yarder which put the Owls up 7-0, he added a two-yard run that gave FAU a 14-0 lead with 5:17 remaining in the first quarter. His third, a one-yarder, came in the third quarter. He had scored just once in his career, this game becoming his first multi-scoring effort.Florida Atlantic will next travel to face No. 19 South Florida this Saturday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will air on ESPNU.
