9/8/2024 | Football BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Athletics coordinated an emotional military homecoming on Saturday during its Military Appreciation Day football game at FAU Stadium. Chief Petty Officer Jacob Drevecky of the U.S. Navy, who had been deployed in South Korea, was reunited with his unexpecting family after being away on active duty.Between the first and second quarters of the Owls’ football game versus Army West Point. Florida Atlantic University President Stacy Volnick, along with Vice President and Director of Athletic Brian White, welcomed Emily Drevecky along with the couple’s two children, Beaudry (9) and Ella (4), to the field, where they were honored as part of the Military Appreciation game day-long festivities. Once recognized, the trio was surprised by Chief Petty Officer Drevecky running onto the field with a bouquet of flowers and long-awaited hugs. THE MOMENT DREVECKY Chief Petty Officer Drevecky is a native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and joined the Navy in January 2009. Upon completing basic training in RTC Great Lakes, he attended UT “A” School in Wichita Falls, Texas. After graduation, he reported to Naval Construction Battalion Four (NMCB-4), where he made deployments to Kandahar, Camp Sharana, and Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.In March 2012, he reported to the Naval Construction Training Center in Port Hueneme, CA. UTC was responsible for instructing the 13-week UT Advanced “C” school to E5 and E6s.In 2013, he transferred to Naval Construction Group One, continuing his Instructor role. He was advanced to First Class Petty Officer in June 2015. Next, Chief Drevecky transferred in April 2016 to the Naval Support Unit (NSU) State Department, Washington D.C. After completing his locksmith and security technician training, UTC posted to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During this tour, he was responsible for the technical security systems across five countries while serving as the LPO in Africa. He later posted to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he became the LPO for the Western Hemisphere Region. He completed 3,000 man-hours of direct labor while supporting all US Embassies within the Caribbean AOR. Following that tour, he served as the Naval Construction Force’s Construction Electrician and Utilitiesman E6 and below rating Detailer in Millington, Tennessee. Overseeing 2,038 in rate Seabees, he provided career advice, managed PRDs, approved extensions and balanced the needs of the Navy, and commands while taking intentions of each Sailor and their families into consideration. He advanced to Chief Petty Officer in November 2021 while attached to Navy Personnel Command. In December 2023, UTC transferred back to Port Hueneme, California, to begin his next sea duty tour with NMCB 5. He is currently a platoon Chief for the ABCC-2 Unit of Action and the detachment AOIC for Chinhae, South Korea.
