11/12/2024 | Football BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football will travel to the state of Pennsylvania for the first time in program history this weekend when the Owls face the Temple Owls in Philidelphia on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. The two teams will square off at Lincoln Financial Field in a game to air live on ESPN+. This will be the first week FAU has been without redshirt junior quarterback Cam Fancher. Expected to start in his stead is redshirt freshman Kasen Weisman. Last week, Weisman was called into action deep in the first quarter. The Georgia native responded with a 20-25-1 performance for 188 yards and tossed two TDs. He added a team-leading 41 yards on the ground. Along with Weisman, a pair of CJs are among the national leaders. On the defensive side of the ball, freshman CJ Heard leads the team with 68 total tackles. On the offensive side of the ball, CJ Campbell Jr. is the Owls’ leading rusher, averaging 4.8 yards per carry (109-524). The redshirt freshman transfer is second on the squad in receiving with 266 yards on 27 receptions for an average of 14.23 yards per catch average. He leads FAU with ten scores (8 rushing, 2 receiving). Heard, a true freshman safety for the Florida Atlantic Owls, has been a standout since he joined the squad in the summer of 2024. He began the year on the two-deep and quickly worked his way into a starting safety role. The driven Georgia native has been a national tackles leader in total tackles by a true freshman. Currently, he is No. 8 nationally in fumbles recovered (2).
