COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Five things you need to know before the Owls open the Zach Kittley era at Maryland on Saturday at noon.
5. How to Watch & Listen – You can listen live to the Florida Atlantic Sports Network with Voice of the Owls Ken LaVicka and former Owl offensive lineman Chris Newbold locally on FOX Sports 640 and via the FOX Sports 640 app. The pregame show begins at 11:30 a.m. ET with Mike Mrezcko taking you up to kickoff. The game is also streamed by the Big Ten Network, as is available on the FOX Sports app or at foxsports.com by clicking on the “WATCH” link. Fans can log in via their cable or satellite provider and must have the Big Ten Network as part of their cable package to view the game. If not, a subscription to FOX Sports is required.
4. Silver Anniversary — The Owls are celebrating their 25th football season in 2025, marking the silver anniversary season for the football program born from the vision of the late Howard Schnellenberger. The team will wear a 25th Anniversary sticker on the game helmets this season, with other marketing and social media content that aired this summer and planned throughout the season.
3. The Owl Raid – An offensive mastermind and one the most highly respected offensive coordinators in college football, Hagerty Family Head Coach Zach Kittley has lit up the scoreboard in his seven previous seasons as the primary play caller. Kittley, who honed his version of the Air Raid offense under Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech, broke records at Houston Christian, Western Kentucky and Texas Tech where he mentored future NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Bailey Zappe and Davis Webb.
2. Terp Connections — FAU President Adam Hasner earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 1991. Saturday marks the Palm Beach County native’s first football game as president of his hometown university. Hasner will join University of Maryland President Darryll Pines on the field for the pregame coin toss. Owls’ tight ends coach Jajuan Dulaney graduated from Maryland in 2017 and was a four-year offensive lineman for the Terps.
1. Kittley’s Debut – Hagerty Family head coach Zach Kittley makes his coaching debut on Saturday, after officially taking the reigns in paradise on December 2, 2024. The youngest head coach the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), Kittley, 34, is one of five new head coaches in the American Conference and one of 29 new faces across the FBS.
