FAU Rolls Past EMU, Off to Best Start in School History

YPSILANTI, Mich. –  For the first time in school history, the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team is off to a 7-1 start. The Owls destroyed Eastern Michigan by a final score of 101-73 on Sunday afternoon for their sixth win in a row and the program’s best start in history.

Prior to this season, FAU’s best start was a 6-1 mark in head coach Dusty May‘s first season with the team, which was 2018-19. The six-game winning streak is also the longest for FAU since the 2010-11 season, in which the Owls won eight consecutive games at one point.

FAU exploded for 60 points in the second half to cruise to the big win after going into the locker room with a 41-31 edge. The 101 points mark the first time that FAU has passed the century mark since the win over FIU on Jan. 16, 2021. The Owls shot a remarkable 60% (39-of-65) from the field and 50% (12-of-24) from 3-point range.

Bryan Greenlee led the way for FAU with an outstanding performance, scoring a team-high 23 points, while only missing once (10-of-11) shooting from the field. By going 10-of-11 (90.9%), Greenlee ties for the second-highest field goal percentage in a single game in FAU history (with a minimum of 9 made shots.)

Greenlee also added five rebounds and four assists and connected on all three of his 3-pointers. The junior guard was only two points off of his career high, which came in the 2020-21 season during his first game with the Owls.
