Fans Will Enjoy Free Concerts June 2-4 in Hart Plaza Highlighted by A-Trak, Big Boi, Z-Trip and Steve Aoki
DETROIT, Mich. (May 3, 2023) – Fans will be able to enjoy live music and free concerts all weekend long at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, June 2-4, as the event will bring a welcoming street party vibe in its return to Downtown Detroit for the first time since the early 1990s.
With acts performing at Hart Plaza, inside the Meijer Fan Zone at the Grand Prix, the entertainment lineup will include some of the most popular performers in hip-hop and electronic music.
On Friday evening, June 2, the first day of Grand Prix weekend will conclude with two electrifying performances on the entertainment stage. Renowned DJ and producer A-Trak is set to take the stage from 6-7:15pm followed by Grammy Award-winning rapper Big Boi of the legendary Atlanta duo OutKast, headlining the stage from 7:30-8:30pm.
Following practice, qualifying and the first races of Grand Prix weekend on Saturday, June 3, legendary turntablist and producer Z-Trip will perform on stage beginning at 5:30pm. Following Z-Trip, two-time Grammy-nominated DJ, producer and global electronic music superstar Steve Aoki will ignite the Riverfront with his electrifying performance, featuring his signature high-energy beats and jaw-dropping stage production from 7-8:30pm.
Music will be featured on the entertainment stage throughout the weekend with a variety of DJs, local bands and national acts performing in the same area where the internationally-known “Movement Detroit” electronic music festival will be hosted in Hart Plaza one week earlier. The stage will feature performances from 12pm-8:30pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am-2:30pm on Sunday, leading into pre-race activities and ceremonies for the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix NTT INDYCAR SERIES race. A full schedule of acts performing on the entertainment stage will be announced closer to event weekend.

With nearly four billion music streams, Aoki is one of the most in-demand electronic dance music (EDM) entertainers in the world. As a solo artist, Aoki boasts an impressive discography comprising seven studio albums, including his latest release HiROQUEST: Genesis, and collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, Linkin Park, Lil Jon, Afrojack, Snoop Dogg, BTS, Linkin Park and Louis Tomlinson, among others. In 1996, he established Dim Mak out of his college dorm room, a trendsetting record label, events/lifestyle company, and apparel brand that launched global acts like The Chainsmokers, Bloc Party, The Bloody Beetroots, and The Kills.
Grammy-award-winning rapper and producer Big Boi is one half of the hip-hop supergroup OutKast. The group’s debut album, “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik,” hit the Billboard Top 20 in 1994 and was certified platinum. The duo also won Best New Rap Group of the Year at the 1995 Source Awards, sold 25 million albums, and won seven Grammy Awards, becoming the first and only hip-hop artists in history to win the “Album of the Year” Grammy for “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” in 2004.
Big Boi made the transition to a solo artist in 2010 with the release of “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.” Following a succession of high-profile releases, Big Boi released his most recent album “Boomiverse” in 2017. The smash single “All Night” provided the soundtrack for the popular 2017 Apple Animoji commercial that garnered 40 million streams. In addition to his music career, the hip-hop icon, actor, and philanthropist is slated to be the executive producer for a new crime series titled “Government Records” and has appeared in films such as “ATL,” “Idlewild,” and “Who’s Your Caddy?”
A-Trak is a groundbreaking DJ and celebrated producer whose career spans more than 20 years. He was born and raised in Montréal and at 15 he was the youngest ever to win a DJ-battling world championship. A-Trak’s big break came in 2004 when Kanye West selected him as his touring DJ. He represents half of the Grammy-nominated DJ duo Duck Sauce, and he’s the co-founder of the electronic/hip-hop label Fool’s Gold Records, whose roster of artists includes Chromeo, Kid Cudi and Run the Jewels, among many others. In 2020, A-Trak formed the Brothers Macklovitch duo with his older brother, Chromeo’s Dave 1.
Z-Trip is an award-winning global DJ, producer, speaker, and he is often referred to as the pioneer of the Mashup Movement. Z-Trip’s roots are in hip-hop but there’s no style of music he doesn’t touch. The list of artists he’s collaborated with includes Linkin Park, Public Enemy, Lee Scratch Perry, Tom Morello, Galactic, Travis Barker, Shepard Fairey, Run The Jewels, Busta Rhymes, LSDREAM and many more. For over a decade he’s been performing alongside hip-hop legend LL Cool J.
