DETROIT, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today that multi-platinum artist Big Sean, and the Pistons’ Creative Director of Innovation, will perform a selection of songs with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) at Orchestra Hall within the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center at 7 p.m. on June 29.
Tickets to the concert go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 29 and are available online at pistons.com/bigseandso starting at $75. Fans can also purchase the one-of-a-kind Big Sean Bobblehead that was released for Big Sean Night for an additional $20. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Detroit Pistons Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan and the Sean Anderson Foundation.
Big Sean will lead the event as the headliner, performing alongside the renowned Detroit Symphony Orchestra in a groundbreaking fusion of hip-hop and orchestral sound. The show will also spotlight some of the Detroit’s rising stars—Skilla Baby, Tee Grizzley, Illa J, Nasaan, and Queen Naija—adding to a powerhouse lineup of local talent. As a special tribute, the DSO will debut a new orchestral arrangement honoring legendary producer and Detroit icon James “J Dilla” Yancey inspired by his most iconic tracks.

The Detroit Pistons and DSO first collaborated on a multi-year partnership in 2018 aimed at enhancing music and education programming for Detroit youth that included in a performance by Grammy Award Nominee, Nas. Financial commitments from Pistons owner Tom Gores, Vice Chairman Arn Tellem and the Detroit Pistons Foundation expanded the DSO’s Civic Youth Ensemble offerings through the creation of a new percussion ensemble and bucket band, a music training group for Detroit students. Funding further supported all Detroit Public School Community District (DPSCD) fourth graders to attend DSO educational performances for free through subsidized tickets. Resources were also directed to the Sphinx Organization to support its annual Sphinx Competition for young musicians who compete at the DSO’s Orchestra Hall each year.
